Title: Newbie intro and a fashion question
Post by: lonejeeper on March 11, 2010, 04:10:34 PM
Hi, I'm LoneJeeper.

I love the shows!  It makes a great addition to the things we talk about in kenpo and jiujitsu.  i love the realism and practical applications.  I haven't carried since i've moved to NY and a permit requires a first-born son, but I shoot as often as I can to keep up those skills.  Thanks for the hard work!

Now for the 'fashion question':  ;D

I'm watching the Best Defense on DVR right now, and I can't help but notice Rob Pincus' tan coat.  It looks like it offers great mobility and covers a holster very well.   Any idea of the make/model?

Thanks!

He personally ripped the skin off a yak, chewed the leather himself to soften it up and then stitched it with sinew he peeled from the back of his leg with a Swiss Army Knife (the one with the USB drive on it).

In other words, I don't know, but I'll forward the question along to Rob "Mr. Fashion" P.

Well, I'll be...   I searched for it before I went about registering for an account, I promise.

I'll assume Rob sewed the zippers on with his hair? oh... wait.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Only one warning ... for now:

We have all seen or met the hot dogs that strut around telling how they "could kill you with this finger."  Rob doesn't do that.  He does, however, have a trail of bloody bodies behind him that say it for him  :o

Other warnings coming ... Right after you type and entertain us  ;D

I see how it is, bait the newbie.   :)

I don't have a ton of experience, so I'm here to read and ask dumb questions.  I could probably kill you with this finger, but you'd have to hold really still and be exceptionally patient. Not fighting back would help.   Also, give me a bit so I can grow the fingernail out.

Discard the iguana ad squirrell and eat the bacon and garlic and I'm right there with you. ;D Scary thing? But it's  worth mentioning here, is that squirrel can carry KJ or Mad Cow disease (which which is not a pretty way to die) if you eat their brains, and iguanas often carry sallomenella on their skin. It doesn't stop the folks in Southern Mexico or Central America, or the rednecks in Applachia from eating them. But I would say squrriell brains are a no go, as are Igunas, no matter how many reciipes there are. Tastes like chicken my ass. ;D The longer you chew it, the more it tastes like iguana. And that's never a good thing. My advice? Mail them alive to Tom, Peg and Eric. That way,  you've done your duty and have helped a board member cross another cuilinary  threshold. Just don't mail the damn things to me as I have plenty.  :-\

Iguana, dipped in egg and floured, then fried in lard and served with a portion of beans (not refried, just beans) is sort of a staple on Roatan, Honduras, where Bunny and I had the pleasure of living for most of one year.  It is not awful.  It's not awful good, either.  Or maybe it was the homegrown herb that made it so tasty.  Or the Flor de Cana Rum. Or maybe it wasn't that tasty.  But, it definitely didn't taste like Col. Sanders--yet there is a subtle chicken-like flavor.  Locals called it "bamboo chicken."  They were NOT the marine iguana, but the tree iguana.  I suspect the marine version would not be at all good.  FWIW ;)

Give me an address and I'll fed ex you an iguana (lord knows you're the first person to ask for one knowingly ::)). My advice? Bread and fry it in a cast iron skillet. Discard iguana, and eat skillet. :-\ They are large and foul beasts and I have serious issues with Noah for putting the the damned things on his arc. 8) People get pissed about illegal immigrants? This what I'm talking about. A man should not get up at 6 am to bring his garbage can in and have to wrestle a three foot, acquatic Central American lizard off the top of the damn thing before putting it in his garage. That just ain't right! ;D

As long as you don't wear black socks with sandals you'll be okay,  fashion-wise.
