For some members that remember, and those that don't, I lost a personal, and best friend, March 10, 2008. Cpl. Robert T. McDavid, "Bobby" was killed by an IED in Baghdad, March 10th, 2008. He was taken with four other members of his team.
Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Ft. Stewart, Ga. He was one of a kind, had a greater vision for this country than I will ever know, had a calling to join the military after 9/11, and was taken home to God this week, two years ago.
God Bless You Bobby. I miss fishing and shooting, and everything else we did, with you so much, you were my always my baby brother, even if not by blood, and I miss you terribly.
Never forgotten. Your already home.
Tim McGraw got it right.

He paid the ultimate price for his country.
May he rest in peace.
May we never forget.

God Bless this young man and all who loved him!

It is sad that the Very Best pay the price for all the rest.
The debt can never be repaid...and They never would ask it to be...only that it not have been in vain.
-
God bless him.
Condolences to his family and friends.

There is a special place in Heaven for those soldiers who make the ultimate sacrifice so that others may live free. And there's a special pride in the hearts and memories of those who knew them while they were here.
God bless him, and may God give a peaceful heart to his family and friends.
With deepest honor and respect,
Crusader

As long as we honor them they will not be forgotten. "To fallen comrades" is the traditional salute in the Army.

Thanks for posting this TW. Not only is it humbling to hear of your friends sacrifice, its also a reality check. All of us who argue about politics, all the politicians, allt the political parties, all the ideology, it all comes down to this. A good man who died far from home. For us. Lets never never forget that and please God let us remember that when it comes down to decisions about war and peace, Lord remind us that we're playing for keeps either way. God help us to elect people who are worthy of the men and women they command.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Lest we Forget...
