Enjoyed watching his acting roles growing up. Old Yeller, Davey Crockett and Daniel Boone were the best.

RIP Mr. Parker

Watched him for countless hours while I was growing up. He will be missed. My prayers are with his family.

Fess was a mainstay when I was a kid. I loved Daniel Boone. Also, didn't he play the big guy in "The Dirty Dozen", that apologised when Lee Marvin Pi$$ed him off?  Bill

If you're referring to Samson Posey, as I think you are, that was Clint Walker.

Easy for me to get them confused with my 57 year old eyes. God, they look alike! Bill T.

Sad to hear, had been very political in the recent past, had been on the Mark Levin show many times. Very patriotic, and loved his stuff as a kid.

RIP, and condolences to the family.

But how many remember the forgettable John Wayne, Island in the Sky?  Besides the FESS PARKER there was the Duke, James Arness, Jimmy Dugan, Mike Conners and Carl "Alfalfa" Switzer.

Fond memories Parker gave us all.  RIP

Due respect to the Duke, but Fess was my Davy Crockett. Hell, I had the coon skin cap, sweated through in the Fl. heat, and the Disney musket that still fired those those red paper strip caps. Take that you Mexican jerks! ;D

My Davie Crockett too, FQ.   I did the same.  Faux coon skin cap and cap firing musket.

What I meant to say and modified my post to say, was that Fess Parker was in a few other movies and TV shows including Island in the Sky.  Not many people remember that movie nor who was in it.

Davy was also my favorite. And yes, I had the coon skin cap and cap firing musket too.

As far as movies go, one of his earliest parts was in the creature feature "Them". It was just on a couple of weeks ago on TCM. That was also the movie where Leonard Nimoy had his first speaking part, and his line was about Fess Parker.

Yep, I was a big fan of Merv and I remember watching that show 'live'.
