So I've been trying to trade off my M&P40 for a 9mm version for a while. Haven't really had any luck. So I offered it up with the night sights from one of my other M&Ps then through in the remainder of my .40 ammo and still no luck. So today I get a message from a guy offering to swap me a new Sig P226 NYPD model with Sig night sights and 3 15 round mags in 9mm for it. See pic and specs below. Do you guys think this was a fair deal. My gun is 3 years old with about 2500 rounds through it 4 mags and 60 gold dots plus 450 FMJs

Isn't it great that the citizens of New York can't buy the same gun their local police use!

Yes.

FWIW
You got a good deal.
It most likely can be converted to a DAK or a traditional DA/SA if you want to get rid of that heavy DAO.
Any Sig Sauer armorer will be able to help you if you decide to go that route.
Stay safe,

Can anyone here give me a list of the parts I need to convert a Sig DAO to DA/SA? I have an armorer who is willing to do the work if I can get all the parts for him.

If he is an armorer he should know the parts needed and be able to order them from SIG or Brownells or MidwayUSA for a discount and either save you money there and charge you an hourly rate or charge you full price on parts(which most likely will include S&H) and through you a free labor discount.
Keep us informed,

By the way, if you just want the parts list SIG customer service is outstanding and should answer all your questions.

He is an armorer that is SIG qualified. This I know because OSP sends their officers to him work work on their DAO issued 226s but he hasn't had to convert any to DASA. So I told him I would bring him the parts. He made the comment that time wise he really didn't know exactly what he would need. I have the list from a few other forums that I compared to what was listed on Midway and this is what I got.

I will be able to talk to my contact Thursday if needed. My gunsmith is on vacation and I would need to call SIG from the shop. So if you need the help I am offering the assistance for Thursday. Let me know,

Tex, That would be awesome if you could help me get this looked into. I am in Pittsburgh all day tomorrow during their CS hours. So if you know somebody that's cool. I plan to order this beginning of next week and have them 2day to me so I can have this thing up to speed ASAP.
-
I could put the call in Thursday between 12-2pm. I am in New England if the time differs for you. If you need my help let me know excatly what your question(s) are to be answered. Also make sure you include model number for me. I will most likely get back to you same day and will try to get you prices. Both armor and MSRP.
If there is anything else you need or that I have forgot, like SKU#s for you, let me know

I just need to know from SIG what parts would need to be ordered to convert a P226 from standard DAO to DA/SA. And I'm in OH so the time zone should be the same. I see that most everything appears to be on MidwayUSA for a decent price and they have the matching Nickel to go with this NYPD models look.

I called SIG and he gave me part numbers but not an actual list so I am unable to compare online. But the price he quoted me was basically $100 with shipping. I know it will be a bit more if I order the matching nickel accented parts like the decocking lever and hammer but I don't know if that's necessary. Any thoughts as to whether or not for the long term value if it's worth getting the nickel accented versions?

Call Midway and they should be able to tell you what all you would need and the prices.

I'm in favor of all black. I don't even like the so-called "two-tone" guns. But then, my Daddy raised me to nbe a minimalist when it comes to design and appearances.

I'm replacing the parts needed to convert my Sig P226 DAO to SA/DA and just need to know if the hammer I'm going to order is the right one. I know my DAO gun now has a DAO trigger but I don't see anything marked on Top Guns site as far as DAO or DA/SA for the hammers.

The customer service guy at SIG did not mention anything about a pivot pin, or a hammer strut pin. Other than that I got the same info finally from SIG. So now I don't know who to go by. I hate this part. Who do I believe? SIG says one thing then you get these forum gunsmiths who say another. I am more inclined to believe the manufacturer but having dealt with HP and Dell I know all to well that the manufacturer is usually filled with bozos who couldn't get a job at WalMart. Please, someone tell me which one is right...

Call SIG back and ask.

I feel bad for doubting SIG. I got the same guy and when I mentioned the 2 pins he almost sounded offended that I questioned his expertise. I do NOT need anything beyond the decocker it's spring and bearing and the new hammer. So I feel better now. I priced all of that out at OMBExpress.com for about $90 with shipping and that's with the matching nickel finish. I am still torn between going with the black finish but if I do then it means replacing the slide stop lever, take down lever, and mag release and trigger with black versions and that just seems silly. You can see above it is a nice looking gun as is. I figure since there are none of these NYPD models made in DASA it might be nice to keep the look but go for better function. I might later when I have extra cash do it myself to convert all the parts to the plain finish and make it a learning experience, or just sell it off and get the Combat model with the earth frame and threaded barrel. Who knows. I still have it listed for sale on a few forums for $650 and if I sell it then great I'll buy my M&P9 but till then I will order the conversion parts and some factory flush 18 round magazines. Seems like a true go-to gun for WTSHTF gun. Plus since I'm not MB and don't have a nice collection of .44s laying around I'll wait for the zombie hoards with sheer volume of fire. Between this my M&P45 my AR and my Compact M&P9 and now my .357 I think I'm covered. I just need KP to send me a Bren or something and I'll be set.
