Title: Fail Zero Hardfacing

Can anyone provide any feedback on the Fail Zero product for AR's?  I'm thinking for me it is a better solution than a piston gun.

Is that the "Gold" colored plating ?   TiN ?

Nickel-boron (Ni-B), FailZero calls it EXO Technology, which is the same thing the real coating company, UTC Coatings calls it.  MB mentioned it and I've been following along in ensuing months waiting for there to be a history on it.

It's not the titanium coating and I wonder how that would compare.  Is there any information about the titanium coating out there?  

Two other things, the NI-B coating runs dry...does the Ti coating run dry due to natural lubricity?  Can you get the Ti-N coating on the upper too???  

I left out that they also have coated uppers. I think the combo bolt carrier/upper would be the way to go for any hard faced items.

I have seen bolt carrier assemblies and Firing pins that were coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN )

Can't comment on the failzero.

TiN coating has been used for a while. Sadlak makes some parts for the M14/M1A varient rifles and TiN coats the pistons. From all accounts, not mine, they get dirty in the same manner as hard chromed pistons they just wipe off easier. I understand the principal behind it I just think it sounds like one of those too good to be true type products.

These are just some of the AR-15 bolt carrier assemblies that are avaliable coated in different products. Most of these are designed to reduce friction and wear, while providing enhanced reliability. Some add to the "cool factor" as well. How well they work is dependant on who you ask. I put these things into the Titanium Firing Pin category. Not necessary, but for the guy who likes to customize his AR-15 to set it apart from all the others, it's right up their alley.  Bill T.

The FailZero is something Mr. Bane mentioned in one of his podcasts...I'm going to wait for the price to drop a bit and chomp off on one.  I routinely use hardfaced product in severe applications for oil and gas production and we could not live as an industry without it...nor could many industries. 

Maybe I can give one a try later this year.  I'll let ya'll know if I do get one.
