How do you feel? - think again!
Posted on 26 Mar 2010 by Beer Drinker
Did you know that Fosters Group (listed as Carlton & United Breweries), Hahn Premium and Lion Nathan (listed as Tooheys) are corporate sponsors of the animal rights group Humane Society International (HSI)?
While these companies spend millions of dollars advertising to the macho, outdoor, male sportsman market, they're also sponsoring animal rights organisations like HSI (and maybe others) that want to turn everyone vegan and put an end to the traditional Aussie steak and snags BBQ. Animal rights groups don't want you to BBQ anything - except tofu of course - and definitely not anything you've shot or caught yourself!
The corporate sponsors of HSI seem oblivious to the fact that millions of dollars are spent each year by hunters, shooters and fishers on their products - not only whilst enjoying their favourite pastime but also at other sporting events and family based social gatherings where they like to enjoy a beer.
What’s going on at the breweries? Are they becoming metrosexual? Or are they just that myopic and clueless they cannot see that by sponsoring animal rights groups they are supporting organisations that want to undermine and damage their hunting, shooting and fishing customers?
You wouldn’t see the makers of Budweiser in the USA compromise themselves and insult a large number of their hunting, shooting and fishing customers by supporting one of the very organisations that is trying to ban their customers' sporting and cultural activities, would you? Of course not. For goodness sake, how 'politically correct' can these corporate honcho’s be?
HSI, RSPCA, Animal Liberation, Green Peace and PETA all raise money to campaign against the one million licensed hunters & shooters and four million fishers in Australia - one of the brewers' largest customer segments.
To the exec's at Fosters, Hahn and Lion Nathan... how much beer do the latte-sipping animal rights groups drink, eh?

so I am off to the Corner and the Basement to clean out any of these and stack the Bar with Coopers Pale, Sparkling and Dark Ale's
might also throw a few bottles of Bundy while I am there ;)
-
All right, I'm good. I don't got any of those in the fridge, but next time I'm at the store I'll give them some mean looks. I am tired of these companies playing us for chumps.

In retaliation, I immediately disposed of the Newcastle 6 pack in my fridge... it is safely lodged in my belly and being processed by my liver as we speak.... I will be sure to piss on an oil can of Foster's in the am, set it on a stump, covered in bird seed and peanut butter... and then patiently wait till a squirrel jumps on to feast, and blow it away with my trusty 12 gauge.
Then I'll post the carnage on YouTube and send a link to Foster's and Humane Society International with the threat that I will repeat this every day until they stop supporting the HSI....
Cheers,
Scott

Actually, that would be grand. Screw boycotts, go staight to terrorism "Stop supporting HSI or more squirrels will die"! I love it! ;D ;D ;D
FQ13 who thinks the only reason to buy Foster's in the first place is the very large can. Its use as tree rat bait is a bonus. Heck, we could make it an annual competiton "The X Annual Foster's Squirrel Off" with prizes for numbers bagged and caliber of weapon used. Sponsored by Budweiser. ;)
PS phil, if you're reading this you ought to have a go. I don't know what you're version of squirrels may be, but there's got to be something (I'm guessing there's a pretty tight bag limit on Koalas) ;D.

Don't like the stuff anyway. Budweiser Red Label all the way
-
Nothing new, really. The HSUS does the same thing here.
I like the animal threats though. Philw, maybe steal a page from the old National Lampoon cover and do a video of a nice, sweet cuddly koala with a gun pointed to its head. Then voice over with the classic "Fosters - Stop supporting HSI or this koala will die!" line, and then recount for the education of all how Fosters supports seriously anti-Aussie causes, and maybe throw in Abo alcoholism issues, and I think you might get their attention.

no beer in my fridge, but there is vodka in the freezer. ;D

Newcastle is only a no no in Australia. It is not produced by Fosters, just imported into Australia by them. So, restocking your supply of Newcastle is ok...disposing of it just like you did is ok too...better than ok =)
