I just got a call from Chris Rosequist at BOHICA Arms. My .50 BMG upper is set to ship next week. BOHICA is a new company producing a single shot .50 BMG upper for the AR15 platform that is getting rave reviews on thehighroad.org and arfcom. With the upper, you can get into .50BMG shooting for less than $1500 (sans scope). They are getting a lot of field use feedback and have moved to a MkII rifle replacing some aluminum with steel, investment castings instead of laser cut sheet metal, new bolt rollers and a new, larger more efficient muzzle brake that looks a lot like the AR-50 brake.

Here's a review of the MkI rifle.

Here's how mine will be set up, except I'm going to have a 30" barrel instead of this 24" and will have the new brake. I have a DPMS lower with the Magpul stock, target grip and a mag well block. I haven't done anything to the trigger yet (I usually replace stock AR triggers with the Rock River NM 2-stage) until I see how much ooomph the .50 BMG primers take. I'll have a Burris TAC-2 scope on it.
More updates when I shoot it in a couple of weeks.

Cool! Just sent the link to a friend.

:P :P :P Please, Please, Please keep us informed! This looks like a way to get into this that I can afford.

A 50 Cal on an AR receiver. Now that is interesting. I wonder how that receiver holds up to that recoil. Speaking or recoil, I wonder how that thing kicks. I mean it can't weigh as much as I would think it ought to .
Cool.
good shooting

Good afternoorn KPR. Say, did you rule out the Safety Harbor Firearms model, and why?? My brother is thinking about their model. Thanks, Mac.

I did look at their product, and several others. I thought the SHF rifle looked great and have seen some good reviews on it. The cost was low too, especially for a mag fed rifle. Frankly, I was most likely going to go with an AR50 but price was a serious consideration...I really didn't see myself getting a 50 BMG for quite a while.
Then the BOHICA came up...Chris was on arfcom and THR and talking about his design and what he went through. Since he's started delivering they've been getting pretty good reviews.
For $1000 I thought I could afford to try out the 50 BMG lifestyle. If I don't like it, I think I can sell it pretty easy (there's a 450 person waiting list). If I do, I may/may not upgrade depending on the quality of the BOHICA unit.

Way Cool KPR, I want to get into .50, but 3-4 bucks a pop, is too stiff. Congrats though. Thumbs way up, and thanks for the info.
I know you'll keep us informed. I'll light a couple of sparklers in your honor. ;D

Yeah, the ammo price can be pretty brutal. I'm starting off laying in about 100 rounds of Igman. I bought the first 40 for $80. They are now running just under $3 a round.
Assuming I like it, I'll start reloading. Looks like I can create decent quality loads for a little over $2. If I go to using something like A-Max, then we're back up to $3-4 a round...even reloaded.

Please go to Bohica Arms forum, classifieds. There is a group buy for a lower specifically made for the Far 50.

A friend of mine is getting the 50 Beowulf upper for his AR, ammo is cheaper, but nothing beats the BMG!
Post a video if you can or pics.
Congratulations 8)
Let us know when dump trucks come in season, I'm sure you'll get your limit.
