I have my Saiga AK-47, bought a few months ago, and changed the traditional rear stock for an Interfuse Tapco Adjustable. The fwd. handguard was a traditional rifle style and it didn't "jive" with the rear one. So I wanted a Galil style more "AK" authentic one.
So I shopped around, local shops either didn't have it, or wanted way to much for it. Online was the same, until I found my way to dpharms.com
Price was right, cheaper than some of my other resources. I ordered it Sunday night, it arrived today. Matching Interfuse fwd. handguard.

NOW it just looks right,.... ;) Evil Black AK....Unlike billt who would just go buy 7 more, I'm happy with the tracking number, follow up phone call from Scott at dph, emails, and fast shipping. ;D
Will do business with them again.
And remember...when it comes to accessorizing an AK,,,,,well

If you have a Moisin, Saiga, or another variety of AK, they even sell ammo..and other "goodies".....

That's a nice looking AK! Bill T.

Very nice TW. I'm happy with my AR, but hell, I do still own the Tapco stock for the saiga, and the 1st of the month is coming up....... ;D. Very nice looking package, just give us a range report when the thousand yard seagull shooter comes in. We want porn and targets! (Anyone posting paula jones pics will be banned. I think I speak for the board here. ;D).

Hey, at least there wasn't those damn "toes" in the picture......
Now, the dilemma of converting it to take standard AK mags, or just bite the bullet, and stock up on a few more Saiga mags.
Thoughts?
Target porn is a comin'...... 8)

I agonized (gee there's a shock) over this. The Saiga Forum has great advice and plenty of how tos if you're good with a dremel. The rifle was built to be converted. The Russians are many things, but stupid isn't one of them, it was built with a wink and nod at 922R. Hell, if you screw up you can buy a new one for $375 and the money you'll save and versatility you'll gain by being able to use standard AK mags would seem to be worth it. Just make sure you have enough US parts, minus the mag to be legal, I'm not visiting you at Glades Correctional. ;D

FQ and your 922r stuff... :P
Let's review:
Rear Stock- American
Fwd. Stock -American
Prom-Mags count as 3 parts, American Sure-Fire mags, the same.
that's 5 American parts, and if it even matters in S. Fl, you only need 4.
I have read that a feed ramp "attachment" must also be installed in the receiver, as standard AK mags, feed from a lower angle.
tw, who has yet to see those stealthy 922r enforcement guys.... 8)

TW you are good with US mags, but convert to AK mags and you lose three US made parts. As much as you and I might butt heads, I don't want to see you in jail over a $400 rifle. If you actually do have to shoot someone with it, belive me those "922 R" guys will be crawling up your ass. Do as you will, just don't say you weren't warned and please do go to the Saiga forum.
FQ13 who thinks an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of lube if BATF wants to get pissy with you.Stay safe and stay legal. Here's the link:

All semi's Phil, and thanks to 922R which is a Rule imposed by the Bureau of Alchohol Tobbaco and Firearms, as opposed to a proper law, imports must meet a "sporting purposes" test. The deal is, as stupid as this sounds, that x percentage of imported parts must be American made. I'm almost too embarassed to keep typing, but in the interest of Trans-Pacific relations I will. Let's say you have your standard Saiga (semi-automatic) AK. Now, that's illegal with more than a ten round mag. BUT, put a US made stock with pistol grip (2 US made parts), a US made hand guard (one US part) and a US made trigger group (five or so US made parts),OR use US vs combloc mags (3 US parts) all identical and functionally the same and its perfectly legal. :o Thing is, have less than 5 and you're looking at years in club fed. An American trigger group and you're ok, a Russian one and you go to jail? WTF? I mock your gun laws, but 922r is our own head scratcher. It makes zerosense, but such is life. We're still better off than y'all, but we do have our own fair share of idiots in power.

I like it, no matter what the guys in the fuzzy hats say.
I've dealt with DPH before also...they were good people.

What happens to a dealer who unknowingly sells a non 922R compliant rifle? Lets say they order a full whack of AK-47's and sell them off to the masses, much like J&G Sales or Classic Arms does. The people who buy them, like us guys here, fill out the 4473 thinking we're buying a fully compliant rifle. Then, down the road the ATF comes knocking asking if we own an AK-47, Ser. # 12345. We say yes. Now what? The dealer is in hot water for selling, but both they and us thought everything was wonderful? This has to have happened. Will they give you a "grace period" to make your gun compliant, or take it and give you a trip to the crowbar Hilton? Bill T.

Gee bill, lets see. A government agency being reasonable, or practicing "zero tolerance". Where do you put your money? This I why I am pretty much anal about dotting the Is and crossing the Ts when it comes to gun stuff. Even if you do your best you can still screw up. No need to give the bastards anymore rope. >:(

Understood. I, as well as most dealers, am very careful about paperwork. That's easy. But the only real way you know for sure if your rifle is 922R compliant is to rip it to shreds and count the parts. No dealer is going to do that with every weapon that comes in the back door and goes out the front. Neither is any customer. It all backs up to the builder, whoever they may be. Century, Saiga, Arsenal, Lancaster, or whomever. Bottom line, I just don't see 922R as a realistically enforceable law. The only way someone could "get into trouble" is if the ATF stumbled upon it. They stumble way too much as it is. Bill T.

Sadly that's kind of the point. You make a law vague enough, and they'll find away to convict you of breaking it. I refer you to the Sedition Act of 1918 where calling contempt upon an officer of the US government was a felony. What is contempt? Whatever the DA says it is. Its like that with 922R, not even a law, but a rule. >:(

Pro-Mag, Tapco, and Sure-fire, all Made in America, make standard AK mags. So the compliance would remain. However, when the zombies come, any AK mag would work, and the ATF will be the least of my worries if I have to draw down on a human being with it.
It would be a TEOTWAWKI situation.
In a T&T admin, can we get this 922r crap rescinded, repealed, revoked, or abolished?

hey twyacht:
Some people with the 7.62x39 Saiga rifles have been finding a nice surprise on the end of the barrel lately. If you get lucky your's might be threaded 14mm for muzzle attachments. There are a couple threads on saiga12forum about this. You can try to take a flashlight and shine it into the thin gap between the barrel sleeve thinggy and see if you can find threads.
If you have a gun of 08 or 09 manufacture that has reciever dimples, a non stepped chamber and the notch for a handguard retainer in the barrel, it seems like these are features that indicate you might have threads hiding under there. If so, it is an easy thing to cut part of the sleeve and thread on a brake or flash supressor of your choice.
I'll cross my fingers for you. ;)

Thanks WIshooter, I have a May/June 09 date in the manual. I will certainly check that out.
I appreciate it.
