With Obummer in power that's good advice for all Tax Payers ;D

hahaha Tom that is funny
Its obvious the boat was "made in china" ( most are these days though )

they are saying 2 tone of oil now and think the oil may reach Rockhampton beaches tomorrow
there in over 900 tones of oil in it, and they are worried that it will break up then it will hit the fan

media beat up, the greenies will go berserk and all forgotten in about 2 days when the next big thing happens

lol wonder if this is COSCO's being China gov owned getting back at us after Rio ( goes and gets tin foil.. )

she's a bulk carrier so the only oil on board is her fuel, and 900 tons is not much. in fact a few oil booms stretched around the ship and you can pump the oil of the top of the water. (I used to work for a salvage company that did this sort of thing.. recovery, not spills). also, coal can be lightered onto barges, this should be an easy cleanup. do hope they do it right the first time.

problem is they have not from what I have seen used the booms around it and have plains spraying dispersants
they also say there are a couple of tugs on there way out there to stabilise it

The Capt. is really gonna be in trouble.... This is a big "whoops".....waypoint what waypoint???, I wanted the town with the best bar, not the sand bar,..... :P
Homer moment,....after the clean up...

looks like someone was trying to take a shortcut

GPS can get you within a few yards of a waypoint and he was 15 miles off course. That's not an accident, it's negligence.

no doubt about that, but then ships are guided by deck officers, not engineers... ;D (had to put that out there) all they have to do is stay on the bridge and not run into anything... ooops you see that guy? he came out of nowhere! remember, the sea is huge and they have radars to see even further, yet they still manage to foul up like this. how hard can it be to look out the window and steer for 4 hours at a time? this concludes my deck officer rant, thank you...

AAAAGGGHHHHH!!!!!! DECKIES!!
-
lol spoken like a true engineer :P
? who would the booms out ?? why would they not have some or air drop them out there
-
Phil, I am sure y'all have spill response / HazWaste companies there. Containing this spill and cleaning it up is EASY! I used to do this type of work. If ya get there fast the clean up is easy and fairly quick. If (as usual) they wait until the crap is spread all over the place then it is a nightmare (an EXPENSIVE one).
-
Haz is right, they usually take their sweet time in 1)reporting 2) calling the cleanup companies... but they're always quick in blaming the engineers (engineers don't even have windows to look out to see where they are, so this makes no sense, but that's what most incompetent captains try to do.)
yes, you can drop the booms, but someone has to be there to set them out with a small boat for containment. I'm sure the tug company will bring something out with them though, salvage AND cleanup, now there's a decent paycheck. ;D

AAAAGGGHHHHH!!!!!! DECKIES!!
;D
There are some Captains I know, that I wouldn't get in a canoe and cross the ICW with...on a calm, clear day,....
Than there are some that keep their hardcopies of charts, to cross reference the course, verify speed, and DOUBLE CHECK THE DECKIES!!!!!!!!
To quote Donald Trump: "Your Fired!"

There was an oil spill? ???
Forgive me I have been on night shift for the past 7 days, dont usually catch up on current events until a few days has past.
But I did put a new scope on my new rifle! ;D

Lookin' good! Certainly qualifies for Evil Black Rifle status! ;)
