Put my shorts on this morning and the button fell off (don't go there! ;) ) so I figure I'm gonna be a good boy and sew it back on stead of tossing them in the corner and getting another pair.
I proceed to get the sewing kit and then I sit down and meticulously sew the it back on (with a few extra stitches :D ). Done! (http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/aktion/action-smiley-033.gif)
I'm feeling all good about myself (http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/engel/angel-smiley-002.gif) as I put my shorts back on and..............................
..............find out I had sewed the button on the INSIDE! DOH! (http://www.mazeguy.net/cartoon/homersimpson.gif)
Had to cut it off and do it all over again. (http://www.smileyx.com/smilies/2erOBh1.gif)

Thanks for being honest Haz! That just reinforces the rule of thumb..."Measure twice and cut (sew) once". Next time ask Haz Jr. if you are doing it right...he has YOUNG eyes!

Oh crap that isn't bad.

Seriously, I have given up on repairing stuff and it pisses me off. Remember the days when your TV would break and you'd take it to get it fixed? No more. You just buy a new one. Same thing with with fishing tackle. I used to routinely buy $150 spinning reels and $100 rods. I'd take them in and have the reels serviced once a year and pay to get the guides on the rod rewrapped if they were so far gone I couldn't do it myself. It was an annual ritual, and I kept rods for ten years. Now, most of the few surving fishing shops that haven't been driven out of business by Bass Pro or Wally World are chargeing $50 for the service if they do it at all. My solution? Buy a $50 rod and reel combo by Pfleuger or Shakespere and throw it away when it fails. I still save money over buying the good stuff (I can buy 6 Pfleuger $60 combos and still save money over reparing my Daiwa/Crowder outfit and the fish don't care). What chaps my Scottish ass isn't just the waste, its the lack of craftmanship. I am fishing with Rods that I honestly don't give a damn about. Break it or have a reel failure? Pitch it, and use one of your Bill T style 7 back ups (sorry Bill, t was just a example) . Who cares? Well, I do. This is a personal thing, but I believe gear for hunting, fishing, camping etc. should deserve respest and be treated accordingly. I treat my SxS shotguns, my tent, my boots and my bamboo fly rods gingerly. They are worth it. My spinning rods? They are just soulless disposable crap. I really don't care if they make it back to the dock as I've got three more just like them. Its wrong to bitch about this, but it just seems wrong. Thoughts?

Cut it out FQ, this is twice in one day I have agreed with you !
The only thing I will disagree with is limiting it to "Hunting and Camping" stuff.
Nowadays even our cars and homes are disposable. :(

Stop buying crap!
I use nothing but St. Croix rods. Made in WI and depending on which model you buy, their shortest warranty is 5 years and the Avid and higher end rods have a warranty like a Zippo lighter. Break it under pretty much any normal circumstances and they will replace it if you return it to the factory. I don't use many spinning rods anymore, prefer casting but only spinning rod, my St. Croix inshore saltwater rig wiith Shimano salt water reel set me back about 250 bucks, ten years ago. It will last me for the rest of my life. My oldest rod I bought in 1991 and it's never failed me....
