We all know him as Swoop on here and he is in need of our prayers right now. His mother posted on facebook a few hours ago that he is in bad condition in the hospital.
From Swoop's mom:
To all of you who are also friends with my son Shane (swoop) Justice. He is in the hospital very ill. Had emergency surgery Thursday and is now in kidney failure. Please say a prayer for him this weekend. He needs a miracle right now. Thanks.
Shane is a good young man who seems to have a good head on his shoulders and he needs our prayers.

Some good news.
Just got the following message from Swoop's mom:
Just got back from the hospital. Wonderful news. Shane's kidney are starting to function on their own, still has a 4-8 month recovery from his illness but God has brought him a long way. I told Shane all u guys were praying for him. He said to tell u he really appreciated your prayers and support. Tell everyone to keep him in their prayers. He has a long recovery ahead. Thanks for being there. Appreciate you.

That is GREAT Peg.. thanks for the update and I'm sure as with everyone else we'll keep thinking about him until he returns to the range himself. Until then Hang in the Momma Swoop!

Shane's mom said last night that he might get to go home from the hospital soon. She said to thank everyone for the outpouring of prayers and to please continue to keep Shane in your prayers.

Praise God, I'm finally home! Thank you all so much for your prayers and support every single one was, and still is, much needed. I've had my close calls before, but this one had me scared, for a bit. I initially went to the hospital with an abscess, and ended up in emergency surgery due to necrotic (dead) tissue and infection. The surgeon told my mom that he removed between 5 and 8 lbs. of tissue :o and that I was pretty much lucky to be alive. Don't get me wrong, I never doubted God and his ability to pull me through, but post surgery I literally thought I was dying. I assume they brought me out of anesthesia too fast, and my lungs wouldn't work. They only thing I remember is they were telling me to breath, but my lungs were paralyzed. I pushed the oxygen mask away and tried to tell them I couldn't breath, however with no air in my lungs, I couldn't say anything. Needless to say that FREAKED me out! The next thing I knew I was in post op, still struggling for air, but at least I was breathing. It's already been posted, but after that my kidneys decided to take a short vacation and shut down on me. Thanks to God and the prayers of my good friends, both local and on this forum, I've pulled through. I still have to wear a wound vac for about 8 weeks, but considering the possibilities, I'm a very blessed man.
I won't bother to use the "allergy" excuse, I freely admit that when I began reading this post my eyes welled with tears. I can't tell you what it means to know that there are good people out there that care and support you when you need it. I pray that God will bless each and every one of you at least as much as you have blessed me. Thank you all and know that you have my prayers if they are ever needed. Now I just need to lose the extra hardware and get to the range. ;D

You gave us quite a scare, there for a little bit. Do what the docs tell you and think positive. There are a lot of folks pulling for your full recovery here.
BTW, that wound-vac is a miracle machine. I was the first person they'd ever used one on in my local hospital and it saved me from losing my leg above the knee. My doctor knew about them, and the hospital had one, but had never used it so he flew a specialist in to show them how to set it up and train the nurses to use it.

Great news Shane!
As already mentioned, stick to the docs orders, infections (from experience) can be tough and stubborn things. If you need something, don't hesitate to ask..

Welcome back Shane, prayers will continue, and so glad you can be back, take your temperature often, elevated temperature, is the earliest sign of continuing infection. Don't play with it, as in, don't be a hero, I pray your on the mend, but don't take anything for granted.

Welcome Home!
It is great to hear the turn around and progress. Take care of yourself, listen to the doctors, and remember that it is all temporary. Even if you need to miss a few things while you heal this year, you know the alternative and the time to get well is worth it.
Thanks for the open sharing, and the prayers will continue.

Great news that you're back on the mend. I hate that you had the no breathing thing to wake up and not be able to get air after going through all of the surgery only to get tripped up by not breathing and no one watching.....it'll cause some panic.
I hope you get totally mended soon and can ditch the bandages.

Swoop! Good to see you are ok. I missed this originally (the Prayer Request section is off the bottom of my screen) so I'll offer a prayer for your complete recovery.
And add a larger monitor to my Father's Day wish list... ::)

Thank you for the well wishes and prayers gentlemen, their results are being seen and felt. Since being released from the hospital, I've been going to a wound clinic 3 times a week for wound vac dressing changes. (That little bugger is a pain, but when I consider it reduces the recovery time to a couple months rather than 6-8, I appreciate it a lot more.) Today the nurses made several comments about how impressed they were with the rate at which I've been healing. I can't tell you how happy and thankful that made me. I thank God for taking care of me and meeting my needs, but I also owe each and every one of you a debt of gratitude for lifting me up in your prayers and thoughts. It's impossible to put into words just how vital that has been. God bless and keep you all and hopefully I'll be announcing my complete recovery very soon.
