The founding Fathers were basically thinking of long weapons – rifles and shotguns, with which a citizen militia could prevent overthrow of the Constitution.
Too funny! Never mind all the State Cons that added what the Founding Fathers thought was a given -"The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned."
* Fatman slings his AR over his shoulder and heads to Starbucks *
"I'll have a large, oops vente. Seen anyone around here trying to overthrow the Constitution lately?" ;D

Yeah, you didnt know that handguns were not invented back then.... Oh, wait.... They were.... Well, I guess they were heavily regulated. ;D
My favorite is how he rants about how menacing those evil Glocks and SIGs look. ;D

The comments were almost as funny as the article.

hehe:
If guns make people safer, why don't we _require_ all school children to carry guns?

Two of my favorites:
Why in the world would it be necessary to display a gun? People who do this must have an exaggerated sense of drama and showmanship. Real life plain clothes operatives do not display their guns.
A little lesson from psychology 101: external shows of strength are to compensate for internal weakness. Those who openly carry are at heart very afraid and so build a fierce, false front. People who are not afraid leave their doors unlocked at night and sleep peacefully. Those who live in fear bar their doors and arm themselves to the teeth, all the while shouting out how fearless they are. So, those of you who do not understand those armed individuals please show a little compassion for their weakness. And those of you who feel compelled to arm yourselves, please seek psychotherapy to help you overcome your inner weakness rather than glossing over your issues with a brazen facade. Also, try to understand that your armaments do pose a real threat to the lives of others. The Centers for Disease Control recorded over 30,000 firearm-related deaths in 2006. To suggest people 'just get over it' and ignore the real potential for harm from an openly-carried deadly weapon is an untenable position in a civilized society.
Can you say, "Typical liberal-left scripted diatribe"? ::) ::)
Comments like this are from those who will never, ever, 'get it'.

If you read SayUncle's blog regularly, he posts a lot of stories of women CCW holders defending themselves. The title for the post is always something along the lines of "Compensating for the size of her penis".

That could have been satire it's so wrong headed.

I agree, mortdooley.
From his exaggerated demonstration of his intimate knowledge of Starbucks Order Placing Nomenclature to his foot stomping tantrum demanding the owner do something..at least make sure the weapons are unloaded does seem like a satire.
From the lack of a "punchline" meant to indicate the satire, I can only assume he was trying to be sincere. He demonstrates a petty existence concerned with petty details like who's who in the local coffee shop.
He no doubt resents having his fairy tale world of sipping a large coffee of the day from a venti cup intruded upon by some "fit looking young men" who must have seeped into his existence from some other world of harsh reality. They deserved it when he "looked hard at these guys"
Sigh.
