I've searched everywhere for a Beretta M9A1 with zero luck! Is it just because it's the Marine Corps sidearm or is Beretta just being greedy? I'm shopping for a 9mm & that was my first choice so I'm lost. I have a Glock so no need to suggest one but any other suggestions are welcome.

Look for a Beretta 92FS, it's the same handgun.
Don't get hungup on the Military designation.

Tekoken,
I'm thinking it's because they can't keep up with the demand right now.
If Tim is right (and I would bet HEAVILY that he is) the M92 is easy to get.

Yea, last year at Cabelas in Hartford, I held and inspected one of each side by side. Barring any internals like guide rod or trigger guard being a polymer, they are identical in function and asthetics.
Really not much different than the one I bought back in 1983 before the military adopted it.

It's more the accessory rail than the fact that it's a military gun.

Oh yea, that's the A1 designation, forgot about that....
Look for the 92A1...Update...."Available July 2010"

Awesome!! I've never seen the 92A1 thanks.

I could have something to do with the contract they signed last year for another 400k pistols for the Army. ::) I know my local store does have a Beretta I don't know if has the accessory rail or not.
-
My local store has a 92FS. I hate Beretta slides so I simply noted it was there and kept on looking.
I'm going there Tuesday noon so I can check details if any one cares ?

any other suggestions are welcome.
The M&P line of pistols from S&W sold me. I was a tried and true Sig Sauer shooter until I got ahold of a M&P45. I have shot the 9mm version also. It was excellent. The Apex Tactical DCAEK kit is a great addition to the M&P.
Good luck with your search.

The gun shop I work at gets one in every now and again. They sell quickly when it hits the shelf. Marines want the tactical rail I guess.

FIFY ;D
The one at the local GS is a 92 AT, It has the rail.

A local shop said he can get me a M9A1 NIB for $617.00 which I think is very fair. He says it should only take 3 or 4 days but we'll see when I go to pay for it in the morning. Thanks to everyone for the advice & help. I'll keep you posted!!

If you can't find an M9A1 look for a 92G-SD. It will be more than $620, I'll warn you now. The G-SD is the version with rail and the decocker, along with the heavier "Brigadier" slide. The FS series is a SAFETY/Decocker. Difference being the G lever returns to fire instead of locking down to safe. Both the G-SD and M9A1 grips are textured different than a standard FS but have the same shape. The Elite IA and some Elite IIs are the Vertec frame with a rail.
If you're looking for a Beretta series with a rail the 90-Two series is the 92 with a polymer frame or the PX4s. the PX4s are closer to the $500 range, have a larger magazine, and are smaller than a 90 series.
The Elites and G-SD are not in producion but can be found, GunBroker has them occasionally. PX4s are all over the place.
I've also heard really good things about the FNP series of pistols. Keep wavering between the PX4 and FNP in 40. Not that I'll afford it any time soon.

I like the XD's....esp. the subcompact. Great shooter....
-
XD's are nice but I'm looking for a full size 9mm & I love the look & feel of the M9A1/92A1. I like the FNH FNP also but that's something I can get in .45acp & will eventually.
-
EAA also makes a very solid .45 full size. OBTW, I love my M+P and FNH, and Glock21.
for a full size 9, the M+P, and FN are outstanding. M9 is a tried and true 9mm for sure. Please post some pics when you get the right one for you.

So I go into the shop today with cash in hand & he say's "Oh I thought they had it but I was wrong let me call here & there & see". I came home empty handed!! I guess I'll just buy the FNH FNP in 9mm instead.
-
So.... I went to a different store to look for the FNP 9 & found one in dark earth so I had no choice if the price was right.....which it was after some haggling. I'll let you know how it shoots within the week!!
