Pure BS and lies!
"A study" says 10,000 guns in the black market per year can be traced back to gun shows (30% of the black market).
Bloomberg "Dealers can take their inventory to a gun show and sell them without background checks".

If all these guns are sold with no background checks and no records are kept, how can they be traced back to gun shows?
For the record, of all the guns I've bought at a gun show in the past few years, NONE of them (purchased from a LICENSED dealer) were purchased without a background check. THe only thing they're trying to accomplish is to close down PERSONAL sales of guns. Step #1 toward a national registration, followed (once they know where the guns ARE) by a total ban (probably through the UN Small Arms Treaty) and confiscation.
We live in interesting times. The founders of this country are rolling in their graves.

MB posted on Bloomberg's latest efforts - Nanny B is a dangerous foe and we need to watch him like a hawk. ALL of his ideas can be implemented without any legislative oversight.
From MB's blog on 3/30/10:

Over at the Huffington Press, big city blowhard, Michael "Boom-Boom" Bloomberg is once again demanding that Obama move against gun owners:
In a letter sent earlier this month from his coalition -- Mayors Against Illegal Guns -- Bloomberg comes intriguingly close to assigning blame for ongoing gun violence to the Obama administration. The mayor and his co-signer, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, point to a separate report they sent the administration in early August 2009, which laid out 40 recommendations to "improve enforcement of existing gun laws" that simply required enforcing existing statutes. That report was apparently given only a perfunctory response from the Department of Justice and little tangible political action -- prompting a harsh follow-up letter from Bloomberg and Menino.
"We appreciate the Department's consideration of the report, but this is an urgent matter: further delay will almost certainly result in the needless loss of innocent lives, including many children. Mr. President, the time has come for action," the mayors write. "Over the past six months, approximately 6,000 Americans have been gunned down in intentional acts of violence. The 40 recommendations in our Blueprint, many of which could be enacted immediately, offer the best hope we have for making our country safer over the next six months - and the years ahead."
We've blogged about Bloomberg's 40 points before...if you disregard the Constitution it's amazing how many fascist things you can do before breakfast! We need to watch this very closely...the Dems have already fallen on their swords for the White House; they know most of them are toast in November...especially with Obama's numbers still tanking after the passage of the health care monstrosity.

They are putting out an ad campaign now blaming Columbine on the "Loophole".
-
Another "can't convince them, confuse them" ad campaign. >:(
-
This would be news worthy if there was such a thing as a "Gun Show Loophole." Wait, if it were factual and/or made sense politicians wouldn't be messing with it >:(
-
I have a loophole with 13 wraps, I wish they would look into.

All of the recent attempts to close the so called "gun show loophole" expand well past a gun show and include all private gun sales. Most of the proposed laws in state legislatures would require a FFL transfer for all gun sales except to direct family members.

Here's the other problem with trying to define "gun show loophole" is that you run into problems with what is a "gun show". Some definitions seem to imply that if 3 or more people meet and a gun transfer is initiated or consummated then that defines a gun show.
Think about it. You're at the range with 2 other people. You start comparing guns and one of you decides to sell the other one of their guns. GUN SHOW...VIOLATION!
So if you don't include, flat out include, ALL private transfers, then the bill starts to infringe on free assembly.
My contention has been all along that besides trying to create a foundation for a national gun registry, the statists are trying to a) make it more difficult to legally buy/sell guns and b) to limit the gathering of gun enthusiasts, c) make criminals out of as many gun owners as possible.

I think you've hit the nail squarely on the head, my friend.
NEVER take ANYTHING the anti-gunners say at face value. There is ALWAYS an ulterior motive, or a backdoor consequence that they have planned for very carefully. These people may be a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them. THey know EXACTLY what they will accomplish with these "common sense" restrictions. Noolis Bastardis Carborundum!!!
