It is fearsome looking, a carbine hybrid of a pistol and a long gun with a mouthful of a name: the Kel-Tec Sub Rifle 2000. Mr. Shahzad bought it, new, in March for about $400. It was found in the Isuzu Trooper that he drove to Kennedy International Airport on Monday, loaded, with multiple extra clips.

So what ? Even after trying to bomb Times Square this guy has never committed a crime involving fire arms.

If anything we should be looking to ban Isuzu Troopers...... They are so big and fearsome looking ::)

A Kel-Tec....just think, if he had 1/2 a brain and had bought the right kind of fertilizer we could all be talking about the Kel-Tec right now and how dangerous it is.
I think we ought to outlaw fertilizer. ;) We can grow everything naturally then....right? Register fertilizer, license it's users, track the purchases, put jackboots on the ground to make certain it is securely stored and utilized, tax it out of existence, tax the spreaders and track them too, no one will miss it. Mayor Bloomberg, how about outlawing fertilizer first.....would it be cool to see him work that angle or what? Somebody oughta tell him, he might bite.....Bloomberg the Buffoon.

I think we need to ban everything that can possibly harm anyone at any time. Ban SUVs. Ban fertilizer. Ban Kel-Tecs. Ban Spandex. Ban everything. Then, the human race will quickly die off and we can leave the planet to the insects and animals as God intended...

You know, Assault Propane Tank. The one used in the crime was allegedly painted black rendering it an APT. Further supporting that case, the APT was outfitted with a quarter turn valve and was filled with +P ammunition (added pressure propane.) The tank was also a high capacity version holding 6 gallons which actually held 6.5 gallons being the +P version. When an APT like this is placed in a grill with electronic ignition (or an Isuzu,) there is no way to measure the evil that it can unleash on society; they must ban all APTs to prevent more senseless loss of lives!

Wow, I can't believe I overlooked that. Thanks for pointing this out, Paraguy. ;) And I hadn't even thought about it being allegedly black. Isn't that racist, or something?

Time to test old memories:
How many here remember the 70's and 80's when the big push was on to ban "Saturday Night Specials?" No concern over type, style, power, caliber, accuracy ... All they were concerned about was price and affordability. KelTec is a proven reliable and durable firearm, they have designs being copied by others, and they do it for a low price. Bare with me here ... Does anyone visualize the "KelTec Bill" speeding through Congress to protect us all from the proliferation of firearms so cheep that you can get them in a box of Cracker Jack? Not to mention the certain amendment to limit the number of "clips" a person can own ... I can here Office Max and Staples screaming discrimination already ... our only hope ;)

M58, isn't it true that we can't buy short barrel rifles or have a foregrip on long barrel pistols because they appear to be "gangster?" That is fallout from the Al Capone days where they were trying to do something about the problem and those types of weapons were associated with gangsters at the time. Unfortunately, there is a legacy of putting in a lot of anti-gun bills with some of them sticking. Surely, this will be an excuse to ban a high caliber, low cost pistol like the Kel-tec.
Good news, if any is that these fears over banning weapons give me a great excuse to expand my collection "just in case."

I've been wondering for a couple years how they have slipped the bullpups past the gun haters. My skeptical mind says that somehow they have to be wringing their hands over how they can tie it to anyone of the many bans in the past. I understand how they are legal, but that has never stopped an anti or their attorney in the past.

I know this was a sarcastic post, but along with there being laws against these activities as supporters of the Second Amendment and its true meaning do we want to push laws to forbid the ability to construct, maintain and use ALL tools available for the defense of our nation? Nibble nibble nibble ... no supressors .... nibble nibble nibble ... no full auto ... nibble nibble nibble ... no magazines over a certain capacity ... nibble nibble nibble ... no firearms over a certain caliber ... nibble nibble nibble ... no bomb making supplies ... nibble nibble nibble ... no reloading supplies ... nibble nibble nibble ... no knives over a certain blade length ... nibble nibble nibble ... no shotguns with a barrel less than so many inches ... nibble nibble nibble ... no long guns with folding or pistol grip only stock ... nibble nibble nibble ... no walking sticks with concealed blade ... nibble nibble nibble ... no concealed firearms ... nibble nibble nibble ... no folding knives with spring activation ... nibble nibble nibble ...
Permits, licenses, tax stamps, education, special consideration, etc., none of these make limitations on our Bill of Rights or the Constitution fine and dandy!

Don't worry, no one will. There are signs at the Newark airport telling you to put your bombs and guns back in your car as it's illegal to take them on planes. Fine print must say 'terrorists are excluded from this prohibition', else they wouldn't bring such things on board either.
