Long story short I traded a safe queen to a guy tonight for a XD 45 compact (not subcompact). So far I am impressed. I had thought about an XD a while back but it just didn't feel right, hence my initial purchase of an M&P. It seems to be built like a tank. Any problems to speak of or any odd habits the XD line seems to have? I really would like to change the mag release to something more resembling the extended glock release. I love having 13+1 rounds of 45 and with the upcoming XDm45 I may have to start planning for another XD addition.

Congrats on the new toy. I have three XD's myself and love them all. My XD45 five inch is my favorite, I can make fist size groups all day at 15 yards.

I've had two issues that Springfield Armory took care of quickly at no cost to me. The first was about five years ago there was an infamous rust issue, they dealt with that and the other two XD's didn't have that problem. Then the XD I do carry quite a bit the mag release was sticking. I THINK it was fuzz got into the mechanism, but Springfield Armory had it back to me with in a month with no cost to me

Well, they're not Sigs . . . .
;)
Someday, when I'm working again, I would like to add an XD to the stable, nice pieces, and 14 rounds of 45 ain't bad.
