Title: BHO to Skip Memorial Day & Arlington National Cemetary Ceremonies For Vacation
Post by: twyacht on May 25, 2010, 07:05:29 PM
It just keeps getting worse from this classless POTUS. He is now officially WORSE than Jimmy Carter...Why am I not surprised?

Officially a Scumbag. Go ahead and send Darth Rahm to my house and I'll explain it to him.

Media conservatives slam Obama's Memorial Day plans as "offensive" to soldiers

Beck criticizes Obama over wreath laying, says he is "sick and tired of people believing the lie" that Obama "has respect for the soldiers." Glenn Beck stated, "Obama is skipping out on a Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington Cemetery because he'll be in Chicago on vacation. I'm sorry, I don't ever, ever question the president's vacation. I didn't under Bush, I didn't under Clinton, I don't under Obama." He later stated: "I have no problem with the man taking a vacation. But I am sick and tired -- sick and tired -- of people believing the lie that this administration has respect for the police or has respect for the soldiers of our country. I'm tired of it." [Premiere Radio Networks' The Glenn Beck Program, 5/25/10]

Erickson: "Obama skipping the Tomb of the Unknowns this weekend for Chicago is offensive." In a Twitter post, CNN contributor and RedState blogger Erick Erickson wrote: "Obama skipping the Tomb of the Unknowns this weekend for Chicago is offensive. Chicago can wait. The Commander-in-Chief has a job to do."

Malkin guest blogger: "Boy, I'm starting to think that West Point speech wasn't from the heart." On MichelleMalkin.com, guest blogger Doug Powers wrote: "President Obama went to Arlington Cemetery to lay the wreath last year, but this year Obama's handing the wreath to Plugs and heading off to the more welcoming political climes of Chicago." Powers later added: "Obama will however make it back to Washington in time to honor Paul McCartney next week. Boy, I'm starting to think that West Point speech wasn't from the heart."

JammieWearingFool: "Obama Blows Off Arlington Visit on Memorial Day," in a "slap in the face to our veterans." Right-wing blogger JammieWearingFool wrote that Obama's plans for Memorial Day are "[a]nother slap in the face to our veterans." He also stated: "Poor baby needs some rest, so he's going to Chicago. Will probably take in some relaxing fundraising and golf or something."

Well, maybe whoever go's in his place, will actually care.

I too, weep for my country.

You mean like Biden, who stated a few days ago that Brussels should be the next capital of the free world! Losers, all of 'em.   >:(

The Commies who strung Mussolini up may have been Commies, but I like the way they worked with Mussolini!

This is why I'm really not worried about the dear leader being able to turn our military against us. He spits on them and then expects their loyalty? Fat chance. Last time I checked they still taught honor in the military.

It is shameful for any President to miss Memorial Day at Arlington....national emergencies excluded if necessary...

Whether the sitting POTUS finds it necessary or not, the Office of the President has sent our soldiers to fight and die for our country.

Honoring those how have lost their lives in all past generation is the duty, responsibility and should be the honor of EVERY Commander In Chief.

What does anyone really expect from BHO?

He has consistently shown his personal dislike and loathing of America’s defenders since he took office. (Actually long before that). Why in the world would he attend any ceremony that honors the ultimate sacrifice America’s defenders have made to save a country he hates and consistently deems it necessary to  apologize for?

Very apt.   :D :D

In discussions about Clinton's and Obama's qualifications for the job of POTUS, I get asked if I think having served in the military should be a prerequisite for being  POTUS.  I have honestly answered that I don't.  But this thread has pointed out to me that true respect for the military needs to be a prereq for Commander in Chief.  Having served in the military does not guarantee that respect, as Kerry and Murtha have shown.
That is the most attractive aspect of McCain...He does respect our soldiers.

I do like the idea that you need to be a veteran to vote.

I heard an example of the difference between being involved and being committed to a cause.

In a ham and egg breakfast, the pig is committed but the hen is only involved.

We will find veterans more often committed to the US since they have been willing to put their bacon on the line for the country.

A guy on FOX News the other day said it best. He basicaly said...

"Obama has the same feeling towards the military as I do towrds Govt... He does not like it at all and he wants it to be far less powerful, but he views it as a neccesary evil."

I agree with the above sentiment, but isn't the military part of the government?

Originally, the Founders intended only property owners to vote,......

Hmmmmm....

All active duty and Veterans should have their Income Taxes rescinded.

Too late.  He did that last year.  Though I heard a rumor they steamed cleaned the memorial steps and walkway on 6/1.

Agreed.  When I got my first paycheck from the Army, I was making $67/mo.

And it ticked me off to see taxes taken out of that amount.

On active duty you are willing to contribute your life for the good of the country...that is enough don't make them pay for the other BS for which congress sucks up their money.

Actually, I really like this idea. This is for two reasons. First, its only fair that those on active duty should be able to say "Thanks, but I gave at the office". ;)
Lets look at vets though. If we extend this to cover those who have spent 25 years in active Reserve or Guard service, what would we see? I'm betting a radical shift in the demographics of the military. Right now, it tends to be the poor and the brown who enlist. Now imagine a no income tax after you hit 43 provision (assuming you enlist at 18). Anyone want to bet we wouldn't have seen a Major Trump or a Commander Gates? I'm betting a lot more Catain Doctors. How many wealthy families would urge their kids to join the Guard or do ROTC? It would do as much to redemocratize our Army as Truman did in 1948. Just my .02.

Kinda going off thread...surprise!

But, if the Military had paid a decent wage, regardless of the tax thing or the SS thing as well, I would have made it a career.  I seperated in '79 making 564 bucks a month.  A month later, I made 500 bucks a WEEK working at General Motors for LESS hours worked.

Remember that this memorial weekend, there are men and woman getting shot at and dying for minimum wage!

Tim, 2 things, Military pay is MUCH better than when we were in, currently a Pvt makes about 3 times what I did.
Secondly, Troops are not hourly employees so min. wage does not apply. I assume they would be considered "Salaried".
(usually a crappy deal as it saves the employer OT pay. )

E-1 Pay without combat pay is 1447 a month today.  Combat pay is about 150 bucks.  While in country, they get no allowances for quarters or food so that works out to about 10 bucks an hour assuming 160 hours of work which we all know is more like 400 hours.

At GM, I was making $11.88/hr second shift as a welder working about 48 hours a week.  My gig at GM lasted 88 days and they laid me off, after that I became a bartender and started hauling in money by the truckload.........

Forgot where I left it though!   ;D

Note to Biden:
Read an appropriate quote, say a brief nondenominational prayer, close with "May we always remember these brave men and women who died for all of us". And then exit. Otherwise STFU!! Otherwise I will rip your head off and skull f..k you!
