So, after long awaiting the opportunity to trade out my M&P9 for one without the redundant manual safety I finally got up the nerve to just remove it from mine. After watching the AGI gunsmithing video about 10,000 times to make sure I wasn't missing something I took my punch and hammer and got to work. After about 10 minutes, of which 8 was just getting the gun back together I was done. Now I have a M&P9 with no manual safety and the knowledge of how to access the sear and ejector. Now I may just go and buy the APEX hard sear to help with the trigger pull. Maybe not... Anyway I feel like I accomplished something.

Well done, get the fever, I got started, because I could not afford gunsmiths, now I are 1. ;)

You go, boy!
I recently had a similar experience with my M1 carbine. Way too many failures-to-eject/extract, but couldn't afford to send it to a gunsmith. So I bought a set of springs (figured I'd replace them all while I was at it) and replaced them myself. Haven't had a chance to test it yet, but the trigger feels much better, and the magazine locks into place with authority now :). Anyway, if that doesn't help, I have the courage now to replace the ejector and extractor.
It may not sound like much to you experienced guys, but it's a big step for me.

My guns are like my cars. I can drive them but I can't repair them.
