... but we will take his final "blaze of glory" votes.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-05-26/specter-to-shift-rightward-after-senate-primary-loss/
Friends tell The Daily Beast that the departing senator, injured by Obama's failure to show last-minute support, may well shift right on key votes from Kagan to financial reform.
With party unity crucial to Democrats hopes for passing significant legislation before the midterm elections, Arlen Specters primary loss could pose a new problem for the White House.
The Senate could vote on any number of crucial bills before the midterms, including a new jobs bill, immigration reform, climate-change legislation, and a final financial-reform package, making Specters continuing support more important than ever. But several longtime friends and associates tell The Daily Beast that without a primary challenge to pressure him, the veteran senator--a famously prickly character whose temper has earned him the nickname "Snarlin' Arlen"may shift to the right.
Hey Arlin, you are still voting based on what you want and not based on what the wishes of the people who elected you! Can you guess why you didnt get re-elected? Dont let the door hit ya on the way out, scumbag!

Before WWII Churchill sat down with Ribbentrop. Ribbentrop warned him, "You know if it comes to war, the Italians will side with us".
To which Churchill responded,"Thats only fair, we got saddled with them the last time". ;D
Screw Specter.

It's the only way he can get through life, given his political pursuasion and all. LOL If you're totally loaded, his brand of social alchemy starts to look like it just might be possible if only we had the right leaders. :P

Heard on Schnitt Show, from AP, Specter will vote against everything BHO and Reid gets to come before Congress till the election.
Seems he is trying to conserve some legacy so he does not have too many eggs thrown at him when he gets home for good.
But if it's Crap & Tax, it's another no vote, if it's another Immigration Bill, it's another no vote.
Still very glad to see him go.

You don't think he'll run as an Independent? (Just to remind everyone that he's still there)

I don't understand why he ran this time. I mean the man is pushing 80 and judging by the photos his health doesn't seem that great. Why didn't he just retire with dignity? He's a well respected man nationally and in his home state. People might not agree with him, but he still had their respect as being a cranky iconoclast. Why wouldn't you just leave with your head held high rather than fighting an uphill fight to do a tough job in your few remaining years? Its like Michael Jordan and Bett Farve. There comes a point where its just time to go.

For a politician, that is an oxymoron.
