Mighty nice of him to take fifteen minutes of his time to hang around and honor the vets.

Look, in fairness (and I speak from the Hurricane and line squall lattitudes), it was the right thing to do. What were the options? Ask folks to hang around indefinately to hear a politician speak? Endanger a crowd carrying metal or graphite umbrellas in a thunder storm? Or just say "Look, the weather sucks, we'll give it 15 minutes and if this doesn't pass we'll call it a rain out"? As a Floridian who doesn't much care for either party, I think option C was the right call. Just plain comon sense.

Given bho's narcissistic streak ("I will stick around"), please reconsider this statement.
I loved the part where it was for the children. Statists never seem to tire of that line.
I related this story before, but I will repeat it here. Boy Scout camp one summer, morning colors, about a dozen troops assembled under nasty, angry skies. Literally, just as the colors start up the pole, the heavens open, rain pouring down, and every damn troop save 2 breaks ranks to get ponchos on - as the flag is being raised. The 2? My troop (and they did not need to be told) and and a visiting Girl Scout troop (ditto).
Some things you do because they're right, without regard to the weather.

Sorry, but there was nothing to worry about. If lightning didn't strike him down for all of the lies he told on his campaign and the first, oh heck,, every day he has been in office, then he should be pretty safe for something simple like a commemoration speech. Good news, he had one less chance to apologize for us being Americans.
