EL PASO – A U.S. Border Patrol agent fatally shot a 15-year-old Mexican boy after a group trying to illegally enter the country threw rocks at officers near downtown El Paso, U.S. authorities said Tuesday.
The Monday evening shooting beneath a railroad bridge linking the two nations drew sharp criticism from Mexico, where the government said that "the use of firearms to repel attacks with stones represents disproportionate use of force" by authorities.
It was the second death of a Mexican at the hands of Border Patrol officers in less than two weeks, and the case threatened to swell into a full-blown international incident when U.S. and Mexican officials traded suggestions of misconduct.
The Chihuahua attorney general's office said a spent shell was found near the body, raising the question of whether the shot was fired inside Mexico, although officials did not explicitly make that suggestion.
A U.S. official, meanwhile, said video shows the Border Patrol agent did not enter Mexico but does show what seem to be four Mexican law enforcement officers crossing to the U.S. side, picking up an undetermined object and returning to Mexico near where the boy's body was.
The FBI said Border Patrol agents were responding to a group of suspected illegal immigrants being smuggled into the U.S. near the Paso Del Norte bridge.
One suspected illegal immigrant was detained on the levee on the U.S. side, the FBI said, and another was detained by a second Border Patrol agent on the concrete bank of the Rio Grande. Other suspects ran back into Mexico and began throwing rocks, the FBI said.
The agent said he told the rock throwers to stop, but they continued. The agent fired his weapon several times, said the FBI.
The agent, whose identity was not released, was not injured.
The boy was identified as Sergio Adrian Hernandez Huereca. His sister, Rosario Hernandez, said that her brother was playing with several friends and did not plan to cross the border. "They say that they started firing from over there and suddenly hit him in the head," she said.
Less than two weeks ago, Anastacio Hernandez, 32, died after a Customs and Border Protection officer shocked him with a stun gun at the San Ysidro border near San Diego.

Feel sorry for the BP agent. His life is gonna be living hell! Investigation by the Feds and suits by Mexico.

Gee here's a safety tip for Mexicans. STAY THE f..k HOME AND YOU WON'T GET SHOT!!!!!!!! I apologize if I stuttered. Dissproportinate use of force? Who cares? They shouldn't have been here in the first place. The Mexican government actively encourages and supports its citizens efforts to break our laws and disregards our national soveriegnty and security. This is a hostile act. F..k them and the horse they rode in on. Its been since Ike and "Operation Wetback" that we have had a president that had the stones to not even apologize but just say "So? Your point is?", but I wish we had one now.

Who throws rocks at folks with guns and then acts surprised when they get home minus half a head?

HOPEFULLY, the Border Patrol Officer won;t get railroaded like the last two officers that got sent to prison for shooting a KNOWN drug dealing, coyote in the ass. Who was than given immunity, allowed to testify against the officers, and was re-arrested some weeks later, and deported again.
Reminds me of the recent story of the American Rancher mowed down on his own property by well armed scumbag illegals.
I say a well armed sniper team, a mile apart, should be as effective as the wall we're STILL NOT BUILDING!!!!
Of course we can't mow down women and children, but gun toting, drug dealing, cartel thugs.........
= Vulture Vittles....

From another article (linked below):
Mexican President Felipe Calderon pledged to "use all resources available to protect the rights of Mexican migrants," and his foreign secretary, Patricia Espinosa, said Mexico wasn't taking the Americans' word that the Border Patrol agent had been defending himself from rock-throwers when he opened fire.

Wait, wouldn't the best way to protect them from Americans be to keep them in Mexico?

It's unfortunate that a boy lost his life.
It's also unfortunate that the Agent will suffer more for it than is needed since he was merely defending a sovereign nation from foreign invasion.
I surely hope and pray, though I don't think it will happen, that Texas, New Mexico and California follow Arizona's lead and start doing what's right. The federal government is inept, incompetent and completely out of touch with the southern border of this country.

Why not? I pose this as a serious question. Folks here have different poltical and religious views. I'd like to see this question argued out. If the Mexican army tried to invade, we'd gun them down in a heart beat. If they send their wives and kids while they stay home drinking beer, we're supposed to surrender? I really would like to hear some thoughtful responses to this as I'm sick of defeatist policies. Can't deport 12 million? Two words, Operation Wetback. They will return as someone will hire them? Six words, racketeering influenced and continuing criminal organization. Ricco, lose your house, your money and your freedom. Discuss amongst yourselves. I am really curious as to what the consensus is. Let me start the debate by saying this. IF WE GIVE NOTICE, say six months ahead of time and big honking signs, that we have a shoot to kill policy? Where are the grounds for complaint?

No complaint here!
This question was asked of me this week by one of my contractors. Prosecute the dickheads that hire these people and return the rest to "Sender". Institute a work program for farm workers that allows pre-screened individuals to work the fields if there really are Americans that don't want to fill those jobs, and get busy.
Legalize cannabis to the same restrictions as alcohol and let's stop f..k.i.n.g. around!
p.s. Simplify the immigration system! I have no problem with people that are here legally!

Gee, that's quite a coincidence, isn't it?

This article is just designed to stir up the pro illegal alien demonstrators.
What you don't hear is our president chastising mexico when one of their illegals murders an American citizen.
F'in pathetic.
-
latest i heard was that other Border Patrol agents investigating the death had guns pointed at them by Mexican military
-
We need to kick the shite out of those people and take the rest of the land we were nice enough to leave them back in 1846.
But it's OK, It will be much faster and cheaper to build the border fence on the Honduran border, it's short.
And the way to deal with "Mowing down women and children", use land mines or robotic sentries. The only human action involved then is that of the person who puts themselves in danger. If they get blown up then, TS you should not have been there.
-
He was a repeat offender, being busted five times. Don't bring rocks to gun fights. I fully support the Border Patrol!
-

From a political standpoint, that's way too practical / logical to even be considered.

And we have become a "kinder and gentler" nation, and those playing the political games, at our expense, are adding to the problem.
