Thank god his kids can still have a happy father's day with their dad. The CCW part would have been played way down by the Los Angeles news, had this happened here. Oh yeah, but we're not allowed to carry! Our anti-CCW SHE-riff was just reelected here in the OC, so we're screwed. Maybe the McDonald decision will help us.

Glad the guy came out alive....I just wish he'd got the perps.
It also sends a positive message against the typical stereotype that "redneck white folks" are the only people who legally CCW.

Quick question Fuzz. Orange County is Reagan country. Its probably about the most Republican county you will find outside of Utah or Mississippi. How in HELL does an anti-gun politician get re-elected? :o :o :o

Glad he made it, and this brings a question that only the unwilling participant can answer, He 1st opted to comply, did not even have time to try it, these were real bad guys, at the door of his apt, at that point he is not only the mark, but behind him is his family, he is the Guardian at the gate, once the scene started, and went bad, he decided to fight, and that is key, mental attitude, fight and survive, knowing his family was behind him and that they would lose him, he fought in a definite CQB environment, contact distance, too bad no bad guys were tagged, but they fled and he did survive multiple GSW's, God bless him and his recovery, Also seeing the hallway, no one else was hurt from a pass through. I will not speak about whether he should have gone into action faster, I was not there, but this is a good lesson for us all.

Ditto on everything so far....Did anyone notice he was hit in his left hand? How many of you lefties have your backup on your right side? And the opposite goes for the 75% who were born the "right" way!
After going through Rogers, I changed how I carry my backup and now carry the 649 on my left side. JMHO.....And, yes, I do practice drawing and shooting with my left hand......

I hope someone takes these bad guys out......ummm.....................I mean catches these bad guys before anyone else is wounded or killed. More power to this law abiding man. It reminds me to stay alert in my daily routine.

Don't worry, its Florida. We have some pretty viscious crooks, but they are deeply stupid. Karma will get them. We had a "posse" that robbed and shot up a couple of Dunkin Donuts (cause that's where the money is ::)). They shot a couple of folks and were public enemy number one for while, but they got busted. Why? And please believe me I'm not making this up, they mugged someone for his pit bull. I mean (and did I mention I'm not making this up) they are driving down the road in a Honda. Three of them crammed in, strapped, bad ass and ready to go (in their own minds) They pass a guy walking his dog. They say "Gee that's a nice looking pit bull. Let's steal it and cram it into the back of a sub-compact car with three of us in there while we attempt a high speed get away". ;D ;D ;D ;D.............. It was a short ride. :o

Orange County is still called the Red County and Irvine in particular is where a lot of the "conservative" candidates hold their election rallies, but things are changing. These people want fiscally conservative, but are afraid of the cultural conservative stuff. They are especially afraid of guns. In this particular election, those ideas were grouped with other complications. The fact that the last relatively conservative sheriff was removed from office, because of scandal, the pro-CCW candidate had helped a gang member's court case as a PI and also that our melting pot has shifted tremendously by an influx that is increasingly liberal and courted by liberals. Nothing like creating a liberal voting base by keeping them dependent on liberal candidates. All in all, aaargh! The out of state job hunt is commencing.
