Who made you guys GOD?

I call mags, mags and clips, clips, but that doesn't mean I'm going to slam someone who does call a mag a clip or vice versa.

CLIP
A device for holding a group of cartridges. Semantic wars have been fought over the word, with some insisting it is not a synonym for "detachable magazine." For 80 years, however, it has been so used by manufacturers and the military. There is no argument that it can also mean a separate device for holding and transferring a group of cartridges to a fixed or detachable magazine or as a device inserted with cartridges into the mechanism of a firearm becoming, in effect, part of that mechanism.

I suppose you are all going to boycott Cabela's now?

Cabela's     Ruger .22 LR and Magnum Factory Clips

Wow, relax man!  First, Eric wasn't "slamming" anyone, he simply pointed out something he had observed at a gun shop, but didn't make any negative comments.  Second, you are obviously unaware of the ongoing joke about clips vs mags.  It involves a member of our  DRTV family and his pet peeve concerning the fact that there is a difference between the two, but the term "clip" is used interchangeably.  It is all in good fun and no one is seriously upset by the misuse of nomenclature.  Sorry, you went to all the trouble to formulate and type out a rant, but you wasted your time with the lecture.

I will also add that I did not hassle the guys and gals at the gun shop over it (they were all very helpful and friendly). It just made me chuckle when I saw it in the display case.

Everyone has some 'Pet Peeve", often based on a semantics issue.

Personally, mine is that when I say   "I wanna watch"  I don't mean I'd like a new timepiece.  ;D ;D

So... a 'clip' is something that fits into a 'magazine' when worn on the head. Ya clarified donkey doodly!  ;D

Hey Dave, Cabela's Catalog is a lousy example, what some marketing a--hole says is meaningless, HK had a poster put out that some one posted a link to it showed a pistol and loaded MAGAZINE. Fine, except the bullets were in the magazine backwards.

Proper nomenclature is important, other wise we don't know what some one is talking about, Stupid and ignorant are not the same thing, using them interchangeably doesn't change that.
Same with Clips and mags.

Donkey doodly, is where this thread has drifted.    But it was a minor amusement against the backdrop of more serious issues this week.

+1
A marketing major who also thinks a bullet and cartridge are the same thing.

Guess where I found the definition of clip?

CLIP
A device for holding a group of cartridges. Semantic wars have been fought over the word, with some insisting it is not a synonym for "detachable magazine." For 80 years, however, it has been so used by manufacturers and the military.

Did you see that they have a new protective coating designed exclusively for Glocks?

It also aids in getting that last round in the clip.

I would never promote something that I haven't personally tried.
