I found a .308 DPMS upper kit with a local vendor. It includes a complete upper with an 18" barrel, A2 stock, DPMS lower parts kit, every thing I need except the stripped lower. Yeah, including the damned bullet button to lock out the mag release button for CA ::)
Anyway, you can have a bullet button tool to release the mag so there is a way around that ;D
The vendor who sold me the kit recommended I get a Tactical Machining .308 lower. I have to get that sent to my FFL...who hopefully won't be too upset that I didn't buy all this from him...shouldn't be...he isn't a dealer of these products! Ten days for the lower to be in jail and then I can get it and start building it.
When I'm done I'm hoping to have a great pig/big game rifle as well as a tactical rifle of the DMR type. I'll probably sell my .30-06 Ruger bolt action since I won't need two different .30 cals to manage. I'll need a couple of 4 round mags for hunting, a few 10 rounds mags for fun, probably use Troy fold down battle sights for BUIS and a nice piece of glass to top it off.

Sounds interesting...keep us posted on your progress and remember someone around here said......."IT AIN'T NO DAMN GOOD WITHOUT PICTURES!"

Go with a CMMG lower, they make one that takes much less expensive G3 mags.
