Title: Bike week 2010
Post by: tombogan03884 on June 17, 2010, 03:00:59 PM
I, your not so humble correspondent , regretfully declined tonight's planned program of mind numbing, but compensated , labor, in order to bring you the following, (sort of ) live report from this years Laconia NH Bike Week
The weather has continued it's annual tradition of sucking like a Hoover. The bikes usually start rolling in last Friday, it has been overcast, cool, and showery since last Thurs. evening   ::)  the rest of the week is supposed to be great though.
Today I ventured forth, camera in hand, to check out the Custom Bike show at the Laconia Rail Road Station.

Fancy paint jobs

Our yuppie buyer is on his way north for Bike Week.  He puts a ton of miles on his Harley's but he's a bit of a tool!

Enjoy the scenery over the weekend.  Don't get run over....

Sorry no post yesterday or today, my internet service was out till this PM, and I honestly don't feel like posting pictures tonight.
I will note here that I don't go to Weirs Beach where the action, drunks, and Cops are, this is just what I see Down Town and at the Harley Davidson Road tour.
I walked a line of bikes yesterday that went from the river to the Post Office, (little over a mile ) they were side by side all the way up the street, 7 were not Harley's.
I'll get more pics up tomorrow, it's the last day as well as Fathers day.

Some guys get hate mail for going to Alaska.......others get it for being at "Bike Week" anywhere!!!!!!!!!

Have fun damnit!

FIFY!

Sadly, I gave up bikes some time ago, after the 3rd attempt by other drivers to run me off the road - intentionally. Of course I was on a little 350 rice burner at the time. Had I been on a Harley with signs, maybe they would have backed off.   :-\

Weirs Beach?  Like where they wear skimpy bathing suits?   Maybe you should risk yourself for the Photo Op?

Well, this years Bike week is over.
Don't ask me who won the Loudon Classic, I have no clue  ;D
I will be the first to admit that, as an action News photographer I am a heck of a Machinist   ;D

With caveat I present the wrap up;
This is the line of Bikes I was talking about in my last post

(http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/th_ARSKS12Ga022.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/?action=view&current=ARSKS12Ga022.jpg)

The line started about 30 feet behind me, and the large building with the Cupola is about the 2/3's mark.

While there were only 7 bikes in that whole line that were not Harley's, they were not ALL manly man type bikes.

(http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/th_ARSKS12Ga025.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/?action=view&current=ARSKS12Ga025.jpg)

There were also a few cars, I've been trying for years to get a photo of the Stanley Steamer a local guy drives.

(http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/th_ARSKS12Ga035.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/?action=view&current=ARSKS12Ga035.jpg)

Wreckers, (volume pricing available )   ;D

(http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/th_ARSKS12Ga017.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/?action=view&current=ARSKS12Ga017.jpg)

More Trikes

(http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/th_ARSKS12Ga029.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/?action=view&current=ARSKS12Ga029.jpg)

Side cars, (Got a close up for any who might be interested )

(http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/th_ARSKS12Ga032.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/?action=view&current=ARSKS12Ga032.jpg)

And Bikes,

(http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/th_ARSKS12Ga023.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/?action=view&current=ARSKS12Ga023.jpg)

(http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/th_ARSKS12Ga023.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/?action=view&current=ARSKS12Ga023.jpg)

The "Art Deco" lines of this one, (learned that from Antiques Roadshow   ;D  ) caught my eye, not quite "Steam punk", but close   ;D

(http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/th_ARSKS12Ga027.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/?action=view&current=ARSKS12Ga027.jpg)

For classics there was this,

(http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/th_ARSKS12Ga026.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/?action=view&current=ARSKS12Ga026.jpg)

This picture was taken several years ago, but since he passed me last night I feel I can put it in this post.

(http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/th_09_03_8.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/?action=view&current=09_03_8.jpg)

and of course cuties   ;D

(http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/th_ARSKS12Ga031.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll282/tombogn03884/?action=view&current=ARSKS12Ga031.jpg)

Until next year, Happy Fathers Day and be safe !

That "Art Deco" one was the newest Victory model.  Kinda weird looking but I'm sure quite a comfy ride for the "bagger" guys.

Me, I prefered mine simple, lacking chrome and rideable.  I have a spare left nut I'd trade for either one of those Indian Chiefs... ;D

Thanks for the report Tom.  I surely do miss my riding days.
