Title: Gun Belts
Post by: SureShot on June 17, 2010, 06:48:11 PM
Hey guys,
New gun owner here. Need everyone’s advice. I got a pistol and a holster, but now I’m finding out that a good holster isn’t worth a damn without a good belt. I’m looking at the Looper Kydex Reinforced Leather Gun Belt. Has anyone tried this belt, and is it any good? Or should I go with an all leather belt? Any and all response with be greatly appreciated.

I've had one similar to the Looper from 5.11 Tactical for a couple of years.  The kydex held up well wearing daily and it holds a Commander frame 1911 quite nicely.  I was looking for another myself and the Looper looks like a good buy for short money.

Gun belts, at least the well made ones, can get just as expensive as a good holster but it's a necessity.  Nothing worse than a limp belt.

And it comes drifting slowly across the plate.....nah, too easy. ;D Seriously, how are you carrying and what are you carrying?  We could probably help better with more details. Welcome aboard.

Indeed!

And you are talking from experience Red?  ;)

I guess you better do a better job of picking your "belts".

I have one that is usually too stiff.

Two suggestions that cover different types of dress (I have belts from both):

The Belt Man

Wilderness Tactical

Best of Luck!

I have a couple DeSantis belts that I bought over 20 years ago and they held up well. (yes they still fit me, I bought them a bit larger than I needed) I still wear one for a work belt, just cant get a holster on it and still be able to buckle it. I picked up a newer larger one that fits great with any Holster I wear on it and have never had the holster shift. Cost was between $50 to $65. something to consider is some of the "tactical" belts look like a gun belt thus giving away the fact that you're carrying a gun. The DeSantis belts look like a dress belt.

Got a great FIST belt last year. It IWB's most everything I carry, without sag, even in the hot summers in S. FL.

They have a great variety.
