Title: Az. Border

Remember that "sweet, defenseless kid" that was expressing his "youthful exuberance", who was "brutally gunned down" by "racist" Border Patrol   ?

EL PASO, Texas – A 15-year-old Mexican boy shot and killed by a U.S. Border Patrol agent was among El Paso's most wanted juvenile immigrant smugglers, according to federal arrest records reviewed by The Associated Press.

The records show Sergio Adrian Hernandez Huereca had been arrested at least four times since 2008 and twice in the same week in February 2009 on suspicion of smuggling illegal immigrants across the U.S.-Mexico border. Hernandez was repeatedly arrested along the U.S. side of the border near downtown El Paso, not far from where he was killed, but was never charged with a crime by federal prosecutors.

PHOENIX – Gov. Jan Brewer said Friday that most illegal immigrants entering Arizona are being used to transport drugs across the border, an assertion that critics slammed as exaggerated and racist.

Brewer said the motivation of "a lot" of the illegal immigrants is to enter the United States to look for work, but that drug rings press them into duty as drug "mules."

"I believe today, under the circumstances that we're facing, that the majority of the illegal trespassers that are coming into the state of Arizona are under the direction and control of organized drug cartels and they are bringing drugs in," Brewer said.

"There's strong information to us that they come as illegal people wanting to come to work. Then they are accosted and they become subjects of the drug cartel," she said.

And did any reporter bother to research this when it mattered? The thing is that I'd like to blame media bias, but that would be too much good news. Reporters are like baby birds with their mouths open. They go to press conferences, take notes, call the usual suspects from both sides for a quote and bam, story. God forbid someone actually acted like a lawyer, a cop or an academic and asked the obvious question, "Who are these guys"?. And then run a full search of public records on the officers and the kid. That might have taken a few hours work and your story wouldn't be first. Since when did getting it first trump getting it right? Newsflash to media: The kid will still be dead tommorow. Get the facts straight, then report. >:(

from FQ:
Get the facts straight, then report.

Just like Dan Rather, and a swath of so- called journalists, facts don't matter anymore. Just ask recently resigned Dan Weigel, Washington Post, prided himself a "Libertarian", while shilling for the Democrats.....

his emails regarding his "facts" on Limbaugh, Drudge, York, etc,....even  the Weekly World News, wouldn't fall for it.

If you have an opinion/position show, blog, etc,... than fine. However, if you call yourself a "reporter/journalist", do you damn job, whether you agree or not.

"Just the facts,....mam"....

Its not even the Weigals of the world that are the problem. Its those who aren't motivated by ideology, just laziness. A biased journalist, who at least gets the facts straight is a step up from a hack who just acts as a dictograph to the government (of whatever party) and calls it objectivity. These people make folks think they are informed when they're just getting briefing notes from insiders and thinking its news.
