Title: Box of holsters
Post by: tombogan03884 on July 17, 2010, 11:11:44 AM
Sure Shot was asking about Crossbreed holsters in another thread.
When Fatman and I commented that he would wind up using other holsters  SureShot thought it was because we don't like Cross Breed.
I'm starting this thread so you can tell him about your "Box of Holsters".  ;D
I'm doing pretty good, I've got 3 pistols and only 5 holsters  ;D

One 1911 with two holsters that I use alternately depending on what I'm wearing and one revolver with three holsters, two of which I use as previously mentioned.  The other, a gift, doesn't work for it's intended purpose so I'm gonna modify it to mount on my trucks console.

I have been looking at the Crossbreeds though...

Box of holsters is pretty accurate, though my collection may be more accurately described as 'Boxes of Holsters'.

I'm mainly a Safariland guy- two for my 649, 1 for my two 1911s, and two or three for my Glock 19, 17. I have some from Bladetech too - one for the GP 100, and an IWB holster for Glock 30 (which I don't wear), and one for my two 1911s. I have a DeSantis "Superfly" for my Ruger LCP. Oh and I almost forgot about Fobus - one for CZ P-01 I no longer have  :(, and one for my Glock 30. I have a Galco holster for my 649 too, which I rarely wear either......And I have considered the Crossbreed too....

I have a few Bianchi holsters for M9s and Glocks including a thigh drop that I can use for Sigs too.  I have IWB and pancakes for Glocks and 1911s.  Now I have a couple Blade-Techs for Glocks, 1911s, and an M&P.  three copmlete duty belts, used for USPSA.

So yeah, I have a box of holsters and almost as many magazine pouches.

If you only have 5, Then you're not doing it right, tom, you bogan.  ;D

Most of the holsters in my holster box are cheapo's. A one size fits all shoulder holster, 4 or 5 Uncle Mike's Sidekick II's, and then there's a Blackhawk Drop Leg holster, that I don't use because TX is a concealed carry state, and I'd need to wear a trench coat to conceal it. I'll use it with my 1911 on the range sometimes. {NO! I DON'T want o get rid of it. It was a gift from a friend.} ZI've got one of those medium (Or is it large? I don't remember.) sized pager pals from when my dad first started concealed carrying. I have a cheap fanny pack holster that closes with velcro, and all of my guns are big enough they keep the holster from closing. I have a couple ankle holsters sized to fit 32's or 380's, that I believe my dad still uses. I've got IWB's for my 1911's (Don Hume PCCH, which a friend of mine is borrowing until he can get a good one of his own.), Glock 30 (Hume 715), Taurus 617 (Bianchi model 6, which is pretty well wore out. Need to get me another one). I'm sure there's others I've failed to mention.

I've one table covered with holsters, a cabinet with more, and a few on the bedroom floor. All the rest are still in the stores.  ;D

I have IWB's, an old pager pal that I use as a pocket holster (without the fake pager) since it doeswn't work well in it's intended form on a fat basta GUY.  I have several el cheapos from belt holsters to pancakes.  I even have an old Safariland holster for a S&W Model 66 that I carried 30 years ago as a cop.  But I still can't find anything worth a damn for concealed carry for my 1911.    :(

Best holster I've ever used for a 1911 was a Ted Blocker Mod 12 IWB. I see that the price is pushing $100 now. Bought mine from a local GS when the price was around $40. Still use it from time to time.

Galco Summer Comfort, for the 1911 tt, around the same price, but when it comes to CC for a 1911, you get what you pay for.

Here's the full size 1911 line up.

I made a stab at this earlier, but need to get home made G21 holster out the truck, did not find my several Helwig holsters or my Kramer, did not take a pic of the old Bianchi shoulder rig for the 8 3/8"  N frame or my Bianchi gun fighters belt that fits the chapman as it was designed around it, but will soon.

I have a lot of holsters that I love, but are seldom seen anymore, due to Kydex, still they are great pistol wear and I dare anyone to take kydex to a TX barbeque.

Peg and I suffer from the same malady with the same gun.  My 27 normally resides in a FOBUS paddle on my right hip, but I have at least a half-dozen that have been tried and stuck in the "box."  An Uncle Mike's in-the-pocket gets some use (fits in the front pocket of my jeans) but I have a beautiful leather Gould and Goodrich S.O.B. that I just can't get comfortable wearing, and one of those ThunderWear pouches that look so handy at the gun shows but are just a pain in the groin when you get yours home.  I have a "Pager Pal" too.  Don't like it.  If I had more self-control at the gun shows, I would probably have enough dough to get another actual gun (LOL).  I also have a couple of IWB by Uncle Mike--one with a thumb-break and one without.  They saw some use through time, but I always go back to my FOBUS.
