Yep, racism is alive and well in the south, ladies and gentlemen. You betcha! I guess you could just chalk it all up as "social justice" for those "typical white people". Too bad this will probably become a problem during her Supreme Court confirmation hearings:
http://hotair.com/archives/2010/07/19/breitbart-hits-naacp-with-promised-video-of-racism/
Sherrod describes how she racially discriminates against a white farmer. She describes how she is torn over how much she will choose to help him. And, she admits that she doesn’t do everything she can for him, because he is white. Eventually, her basic humanity informs that this white man is poor and needs help. But she decides that he should get help from “one of his own kind”. She refers him to a white lawyer.
Sherrod’s racist tale is received by the NAACP audience with nodding approval and murmurs of recognition and agreement. Hardly the behavior of the group now holding itself up as the supreme judge of another groups’ racial tolerance.
Mr. Sharpton, Mr. Jackson the floor is yours....
-
Heck, this is typical. Ms. Sherrod had been an idiot for a long time. I've had the pleasure of watching her in news video footage and interviews on our local TV station for years.
The blatant hypocrisy of the NAACP has done more to perpetuate racism than just about any other group in America.
It's no longer about equality, it's about keeping the pot stirred in order to keep a job. And the ignorant flock to it like moths to a flame.

OooooKay ??? This speech was only a year ago, and she seemed pretty damn proud of what she did. Sounds like someone needs to lose her job! Do we give her a chance to resign, or do we just gather tar, feathers and a rail >:( Does anyone care to explain what the the "uproar" would be if this were a "white man" making these comments?

She did resign

*Rumor has it that more tapes of NAACP racism are coming down the pike tomarrow.
-
No real surprises here, ( except for Ray Charles ;D )
Where do you think the Illegal aliens got the idea to call us racist for wanting secure borders ?
They have been watching for 40 years while the Jackson's and Sharpton's played on liberal white guilt.
I never owned a slave.
You ain't been a slave.
You want to continue this I will beat you like I don't own you.

If a white government official said something like that at a NAAWP meeting, there would be violent riots in the streets we'd be watching on the WET network. Oh wait...there's no NAA-White-P association and no White Entertainment Television network to watch it on. I guess that's because if there WERE, they would be proof of our racist leanings.

Between the totally racist blacks, and the overly politically correct whites, the 13% of their population will dominate in no time. We've already got the white guy riding in the back seat in the Volvo commercials. Bill T.
-
There are bigots of every shape, size, and color. The rest of us must suffer their ingnorance. I was born with a wide open mind and taught predjudice against blacks by my father. Years of thought, working with some wonderful black folks, and realizing a little more about life in general, I have overcome my father's influence and I can accept almost anyone for what they are...it's just that some people are jackasses.
Left to our own devices I think regular folk would get along just fine. The "Race Debate" is kept alive singlehandely by those who profit from prejudice; who's only profession is continuous outrage over whatever percieved wrong they can latch on to. Or the category of even worse people...those who profit from others fighting over race...like the politicians.
-

This is why racism in this country will never die. Blacks will not allow it to. People like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the NAACP would have to stop manufacturing it, and find real jobs if it did. The Duke University LaCrosse Team, and Tawana Brawley are perfect examples. Bill T.

Bill, actually that works out, it's not quite the same as "back of the bus" ;D
You know, If I'm going to be called a racist for opposing bad ideas that happen to come from a 1/4 black individual, I might as well go back to enjoying the jokes and sayings I grew up with, like "why are there so many more blacks than Indians.
Cuz we ain't played cowboys and n- - - - - s yet.
"Eeny meenie mienie moe catch a n***** by the toe..."
"Nxxxxx in the wood pile"
Remember "Song of The South", the Uncle Remus stories ?
Remember Sambo's reasturaunts ?
Remember "Downtown" ?
All gone because of the brainwashing referred to as Political Correctness .
Any one who thinks "Brainwashing" is an extreme statement should consider this, once you start eliminating words from a language
you limit avenues of expression and eventually, of thought .
Here's an example, back during the debate on the AWB the argument was framed as "Ban them completely, or regulate the crap out of them ?
The idea of leaving them the eff alone never got into the picture.
I have never considered my self a racist, only observant, I look at the societies built by Whites in North America and Europe, then I look at the societies built in Asia, Japan , South Korea, and Taiwan for example.
I compare that to the economic miracle that used to be Rhodesia, Hey, Rwanda, How you like being free of the "evil Imperialist" ?
The fact seems to be, some races / religions , left to their own devices, will produce Rome, Paris, and NY.
Others produce Somalia, and Haiti.
If that is racist , so be it, TS.

The video seems to not be working…
The plot thickens ::)

A few nights ago I watched "The Cowboys" starring John Wayne. In the movie Roscoe Lee Browne plays the Duke's black, trail drive cook. I remember seeing it for the first time at the drive in when it came out. Bruce Dern played the bad guy who referred to Browne as "ni##er" several times. When it was telecast the other night it was totally sanitized, thanks to political correctness.
I hope the white farmer who was on the receiving end of that bitches tirade, sues the Department Of Agriculture for millions. Blacks need to learn that racism works both ways. They don't possess the franchise. Bill T.

I'd like to take the two transcripts, lay them side-by-side, and require her to explain the differences!
-
I wonder if she knows the letter g exists? (learnin' , hearin', etc) She sounds like a true affirmative action hire!

Have you seen "Blazing Saddles" on network TV? It's not even remotely funny anymore.
It's okay to drop the f-bomb "accidentally" but using the n-word for any reason will get you pilloried. Don't even think of using a perfectly unrelated word like "niggardly." Please stop protecting me from the world!
Not to mention what has happened to the word "gay." I realize that language is fluid and changes over time but I hate to see it hijacked in this manner.
P.S. Just a nit - John Wayne was know as "Duke" not "the Duke." It was a nickname, not a title. ;)
P.P.S I saw a special on John Wayne where they interviewed Bruce Dern. He said while filming that fight scene in "The Cowboys" with Duke, Duke told him "you know you are about to become the most hated man in America." He understood his fans.

It looks like Glenn Beck has just come out and said that the woman should not be fired b/c we dont know the entire context of the speach and that she was probably trying to make the point that "we must get beyond race".
Mark my words: Obama is gonna ride in and be the savior now (although the woman is saying that the WH demanded her resignation). He now has political cover to come in and say how the USDA "acted stupidly" and that we must make this right and give her back her job ::)
But this is not even the issue... EVERYONE in the media is trying to turn this into the "beer sumit 2.0" and talk about was she being racist or not. The issue here (and why the tape was released in the first place) is the fact that NAACP members are laughing it up about her saying that she was "trying to decide how much help she was gonna give him" because he was white (45 second mark).
-
Obama is gonna ride in and be the savior now.
He can't be because it was his administration that over reacted AGAIN without getting all of the facts, and ordered her fired immediately. She reported she had 3 cell phone calls from his administration while driving back to Washington. The third one told her to pull her car over and make the resignation call, which she claims she did. Hussein shot himself in the foot yet again by jumping the gun, just as he did when he said the police "Acted Stupidly" when they arrested his professor buddy. That required the now infamous "Beer Summit" to clear up politically. As I said, each day it gets a little bit worse. Bill T.

Now, Bill, you are making the mistake of believing Obama will let the truth get in the way of his self agrandising.
Two words: plausible deniability. It will never be traced back to him. Either they are gonna axe some "rogue" admin official or they are gonna say someone at the USDA just made that part up. Either way, Dear Leader is not gonna miss a chance to get infront of the cameras and play the role of savior
-
Not saying this woman is a star at her job or well educated but on this particular issue I have to agree with Glenn Beck.
The video of her statement did seem like it was cut off just before she started to say that in the years since she acted that way, she came to realize it wasn't right...haven't heard the rest...so don't knw that for sure.
But her current statements seem to be trying to make out she never made the statements in question.
If she was going to point out she was wrong, she should have defended herself by simply saying that Yes, 20 years ago, I acted with a racial bias, as my complete statement would show. I was wrong in my attitude 20 years ago and realized that quickly and changed.
Why she didn't take that approace give me doubts.
-
Full tape (16:30 - 21:30 mark):
*There is an edit at the 21:00 mark, however.

Two words: plausible deniability.
He can't deny what the American people already know he did, or ordered done. It's no different than Holder not saying the words "Radical Islam", or not prosecuting the Black Panthers for voter obstruction. It was Holders actions, or rather lack of them, but the people know it is Hussein giving the orders. It's almost to the point when you hear and see these people you find yourself looking up to see Hussein operating the strings like they're some kind of Marionette. Bill T.

The racial and political backpedalling has already begun. Get the popcorn. Bill T.

Thanks, Eric.
The complete speech really put a different perspective on this woman than the selected segment at the start of this thread.
Ironic that the "Hate Monger" Beck would be one to come to her defense while BHO threw her under the bus.
Yes..Popcorn is in order :D :D

Nothing ironic about it, character is defined by what you DO--not just what you say.

Damn! The AP is really giving Obama the business over this. Calling him out for not talking about what happened and calling him the student in this "teachable moment":

What I find so ironic about all of this, is the fact many whites helped elect this total charlatan in hopes of "leaving race behind us". It has done just the opposite. Race has become the total driving force of this administration. Hussein has put race on the front burner and turned the heat to high. No matter if he meant to or not. Like most all politically correct behaviour, if you criticize his performance, and you're white, you're a "racist". Every day it just keeps getting worse. Bill T.

Its because the race card is being played so readily now. It was bad before, but since he has gotten into office EVERYTHING is about race.

That is not surprising in the least. The higher they, (blacks), ascend in society and power, the harder they beat the race drum, and the worse everything becomes around them. South Africa is one of the best examples to date. It's unfortunate, but true most everywhere in the world you look. They manage to destroy prosperity wherever they find it. Hussein is carrying on the tradition in grand fashion. Bill T.

I saw on the news a minute ago where Ms. Sherrod got to spend 7 minutes talking to King BHO and a 'special, better' USDA job was just created, especially for her.
::) ::)
Don't get me wrong, the edited tape was wrong and I abhor seeing things like that done by media jerks just to stir the political pot, ..............but, I've listened to this woman for years, still a typical liberal.
-
Sigh...
Oh, Ms. Sherrod, we have this new better paying job for you. We didn't need it done yesterday, even by a minimum wage flunky, but it's all yours now. Congratulations on your accomplishment.
I feel she is owed something, but not another insult.

She is saying that she will probably sue the blogger who released the tape....... who was not targeting her by releasing the video..... and who did not edited the tape (its all he had)..... and who did nothing but release a tape of her own words. Ummmm, how bout you sue the bastards that wrongfully terminated you and admited to doing so on national TV ??? ::)

I'm sick of this whole thing already.
1.) A guy posted an edited clip of what she said, that took the meaning out of context.
2.) Everyone ran with it, and wound up looking like idiots.
3.) Apologies ran rampant, and as usual, Fox News caused everything.
How can they manage to take a 5 minute story, and beat it for over 2 days? Bill T.

Well, there is a lesson here.
Remember that what you see is the only fact you have. Do not assume anything more than that fact.
In a Heinlein novel, Stranger In a Strange Land, there was a character who was a Professional Witness who trained to make no assumptions. To demonstrate, she was asked the color of a distant house, she looked at it an replied "It's white on this side."
We all can use a bit more thinking like that.

From an article by Robert Fortner:
Did Andrew Breitbart Lay A Trap For Sherrod's Fraud... Unbelievable!
Andrew Breitbart is a media genius.
He proved it originally with his brilliant handling of the ACORN ‘hooker’ scandal which he skillfully manipulated so that the corrupt media was forced, against its will, to broadcast corruption in one of Obama’s most powerful political support groups. But Breitbart’s handing of that affair is nothing compared to his brilliant manipulation of the Shirley Sherrod ‘white farmer’ scandal.
It all began last Monday, July 22, 2010. As the country watched in horror, Breitbart released a snippet of a tape on his “Big Government” site which showed an obscure black female official of the Dept. of Agriculture laughing to a roomful of NAACP members about how she’d discriminated against a destitute white farmer and refused to give him the financial aid he desperately needed. As she smirked to the room, she’d sent him instead to a white lawyer – ‘one of his own kind’ – for help. The black woman was Shirley Sherrod – and almost immediately she became the center of a firestorm of controversy which exploded throughout the country. Within a day of the release of that infamous tape, the head of the Dept. of Agriculture, spurred on by Obama, demanded – and received – Sherrod’s resignation. Breitbart had won.
But then seemingly Breitbart’s actions began to explode in his face. As Sherrod screamed in protest, FOX News released the entire text of her speech last March to the NAACP. And there on tape Sherrod was shown supposedly repenting of her racism against a white farmer and instead championing his fight to win funds to keep his farm afloat. Within hours of that entire tape being revealed, the entire world turned against Andrew Breitbart. Conservatives throughout the country were enraged that he’d endangered their reputations by releasing a ‘doctored’ tape. Breitbart, they thundered, had dealt a fatal blow to the conservative media. I confess that I also was horrified at what I saw as the clumsiness and stupidity of Breitbart in ‘doctoring’ a tape to make a supposedly innocent woman look guilty. But now I discover I have been as guilty of haste to judgment of Breitbart as the Dept. of Agriculture was of Ms. Sherrod.
Only now am I realizing the real purpose for Breitbart’s release of that tape snippet. It was to allow him to cunningly trick the media into exposing one of the most shocking examples of corruption in the federal government – a little known legal case called “Pigford v. Glickman”.
***snip***
“In 1997, 400 African-American farmers sued the United States Department of Agriculture, alleging that they had been unfairly denied USDA loans due to racial discrimination during the period 1983 to 1997.” The case was entitled “Pigford v. Glickman” and in 1999, the black farmers won their case. The government agreed to pay each of them as much as $50,000 to settle their claims.
But then on February 23 of this year, something shocking happened in relation to that original judgment. In total silence, the USDA agreed to release more funds to “Pigford”. The amount was a staggering $1.25 billion. This was because the original number of plaintiffs – 400 black farmers – had now swollen in a class action suit to include a total of 86,000 black farmers throughout America.
There was only one teensy problem. The United States of America doesn’t have 86,000 black farmers. According to accurate and totally verified census data, the total number of black farmers throughout America is only 39,697. Oops.
Well, gosh – how on earth did 39,697 explode into 86,000 claims? And how did $50,000 explode into $1.25 billion? Well, folks, you’ll just have to ask the woman who not only spearheaded this case because of her position in 1997 at the “Rural Development Leadership Network” but whose family received the highest single payout (approximately $13 million) from that action – Shirley Sherrod. Oops again.
***snip***
Yes, folks. It appears that Ms. Sherrod had just unwittingly exposed herself as the perpetrator of one of the biggest fraud claims in the United States – a fraud enabled solely because she screamed racism at the government and cowed them into submission. And it gets even more interesting. Ms. Sherrod has also exposed the person who aided and abetted her in this race fraud. As it turns out, the original judgment of “Pigford v. Glickman” in 1999 only applied to a total of 16,000 black farmers. But in 2008, a junior Senator got a law passed to reopen the case and allow more black farmers to sue for funds. The Senator was Barack Obama.
Because this law was passed in dead silence and because the woman responsible for spearheading it was an obscure USDA official, American taxpayers did not realize that they had just been forced in the midst of a worldwide depression to pay out more than $1.25 billion to settle a race claim.
But Breitbart knew. And last Monday, July 22, 2010, he cleverly laid a trap which Sherrod – and Obama – stumbled headfirst into which has now resulted in the entire world discovering the existence of this corrupt financial judgment. Yes, folks – Breitbart is a genius.
As for Ms. Sherrod? Well, she’s discovered too late that her cry of ‘racism’ to the media which was intended to throw the spotlight on Breitbart has instead thrown that spotlight on herself – and her corruption. Sherrod has vanished from public view. Her ‘pigs’, it seems, have come home to roost. Oink!

The problem for the left in general, and the Obama administration in particular, is that they can't win in a rational debate of positions on the issues. Hence, the hopey/changey assholes are left with nothing but making enough noise to drown out rational argument. And nothing is this country makes more noise than a charge of racism, something that is impossible to defend one's self against. Just ask Mark Fuhrman.
