Eric started a topic that is generating long lists, What guns do you want ?
Four simple words Almost all of them DUH !
I want the short list, what guns would you not take as a gift ?
Some one hands it to you and says "Here, take this" and you reply No Thank you.
For me it is Beretta Semi Auto's , I resent getting brass in the face.
-
I most likely will never shoot a 12 gauge with 3 & 1/2 inch magnums in it.
-
Anything above a .44 mag. in any action type! I'm married and that is punishment enough!!!!!! LOL

Glock - There are standards that must be obeyed
-
Anything between 9 Parabellum and .45 GAP. Although, I am open to trying the 10 MM but if the recoil is similar to the .40 Short and Weak FORGET IT. Any Glock prior to Gen 4 (I'm willing to give it a chance)
-
Taurus 709. The only gun i've ever owned that I regretted ever falling for the hype. Not accurate and very poorly assembled.
-
Anything by Phoenix - real POSs.

I agree those swap barrel .22's were the shittiest things ever to be made, pretty sure they just scrunched up used aluminium foil into the shape of a gun.
-
2nd vote for Glock. Partially because they are outdated, partially because the fan-boys annoy me.
-
Ruger P89 or P90 They are better off as boat anchors

Good man! ;D
-
+3 on the Glock. I might be persueded if there was a zombie riot or something, and there was nothing else. But I would have to wash my hands after. :D
-
Ummmm... only something that I suspect of being stolen or used in a crime. In other words, it has more to do with the person and not the gun ;)
-
- I'd list the obvious ones like Pheonix, Raven, etc
- There are a lot of 1911's that appear in the SOG flyer that come from companies no one has ever heard of...sound like money pits
- If it includes taking the gun then immediately trading it in for something else, then I'd include Rossi handguns, Glocks, the extraordinarily cheap pump shotguns and "combo package deal" rifles that decorate most WalMart and big box stores

Dont knock Wal-Mart.... its probably the cheapest place to buy a Remington 700
-
S&W Glock copy.
-
Dont knock Wal-Mart
I wasn't knocking WalMart. I was knocking the "price point only" package deals. I've bought guns there and you are right, they often have great priceson quality firearms.
-
Phoenix is made in Ca. Friend of mine bought one, it broke after less than 200 rounds.
-
My oldest boy had two pistols, both made by Jimenez.......one was a .380 and the other was a 9mm.
JUNK.
The .380 would drop the mag in the middle of a string of fire.
The 9mm would actually lock the slide open during a string of fire with ammo still in the mag.....no sh*t, really. I figured out it was the recoil action causing the slide stop lever to kick up. The barrels were pinned to the frame and did not move. Sh*tty guns, sh*tty guns.
Only good thing was he was able to sell them for what he paid for them.......good riddance.
Couldn't run fast enough to give me one....even to use as a paper weight.

None! I confess I'm a slut. As I've said somewhere on here before, firearms are my mistress.
-
I'd take about anything....okay, I'm easy....not cheap, but easy.
I figure I could do "something" with a Raven or a Jimenez. If nothing else, take it to a "gun buy back" (SIC) program and get some money for it.
BUT, I realize there is one, a Chipmunk, that I wouldn't even bother to take for free. Nope. Don't like them.

Never even heard of it!

i'd take anything, but it might not be in the safe very long...
now there is a long list of guns i would not shoot.
most are do to the fact that they might blow up.
then there are teh guns that you have to be smart to shoot.
you know ultra light mag rifles, snubbys chamber in thumpers...etc.
-
Glock - There are standards that must be obeyed
I concur.
-
I once saw a $150 .44 Mag Revolver that there's no WAY I'D FIRE! It was made by RG Industries. And It looked BEAT UP.
-
I look at it like this I can trade a POS gun in on a new one that I like.
-
Never even heard of it!
CHIPMUNK was supposed to be youth .22lr rile. Well I mean it is. It's just that if your kid can't operate it and it has an absolutely horrible trigger, then it does nothing to teach shooting skills other than to totally frustrate the child. One of the biggest mistakes I made in trying to teach my kids to shoot.
They have been acquired by "Crickett Firearms" and they may have been greatly improved. Couldn't have gotten worse.

Alf, I bought a Chipmunk for my Daughter and she loves it, She even used it to take a 3rd place in the local club .22 silhouette and woods walk shoot . it may be slow, but you wouldn't want to be within 150 yards of her.

There are guns NOT to have for SD, or if your life depended on it,.....et al,...But the Davis .380 I bought for my now ex-wife, was a damn decent pistol, I fired the hell out of it, shot minute of pie plate at 5 yds, and fit my pocket like my billfold.
I think Cobra makes them now,....well, No I wouldn't take one,....(alright I lie but would trade/sell it),...but that damn pistol worked.
Maybe I was lucky, right up until the ex stole, took it... :-\
Where's that Sig Mosquito? ;)
-
I'm afraid I'd pretty much take any gift. Then I'd turn around and sell that crap post haste.
-
Right now I have a nearly new North American Arms Guardian in .32, it fails to fire, it was a gift, and well thought of, I will probably send it back for repair, however I bought a Beretta Tomcat in same caliber, for 150, runs like a champ. Rg's, Phoenix, Raven, Accutek, Sterling, junk, stay away.
-
Only gun I ever gave away because I was afraid of it was a Smith .32 circa 1930. It was so badly out of time to be dangerous and it was jusr beat to hell otherwise. Aside from being dangerous, I'll take any pre-68 gun (just picking a year at random ;D) or a new POS if I can trade it. If not, I'll avoid Kel-tec. They go bang, but I hate the trigger. As far as the Glock haters? Well, its as reliable as a D/A snubby and just as or more accurate. Whats not to like? Add in the low price point, and ubiquitious mags, and you are a fool to write them off. If you want a "minute of bad guy" at 15 yards gun, they are tough to beat. Yeah, they are ugly, but thats why we carry concealed. ;D

M 25, don't under rate the "accu tec" I owned or used several with no problems.

Anything Kel tec.

I don't think there is a gun I wouldn't take if you gave it to me. I wouldn't buy some of them for myself, but if you have it and want to give it to me I'd probably take it! ::) Their are really only two POS's in my safe one I bought the fore mentioned Davis .380, and a broken spanish made .32 revolver that was passed to me by a great uncle. I'll likely never get rid of either as the Davis was the first gun I bought for myself when I turned 21 it was literally all I could afford at the time, still works though it's on the second firing pin. The second was uncle Mac's and he was a great man who knew more jokes than anyone I've ever met and taught me how to make a real sling shot from a tree when I was a boy! ;)

I don't know. Not quite enough gun, trendy, finicky, expensive to feed, won't hit where you aim it and comes with a recall? Sounds like an even money deal to me. ;D

Even had the Nickel "gangsta" finish,.....shot just as good turned sideways, as with a Weaver stance....think I paid $99.00 NIB.
The ex, of course, has cost me much more... :'(
But the damn thing was my back up on many a camping trip, and when pulled out to fire on pesky water bottles, and old stumps, it just worked. Who knew?
