She's shocked that Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent and the NRA will be at the Lincoln Monument for a rally on August 28 . . . the anniversary of Martin Luther King's March on Washington.

Well imagine how shocked she would be if she realized that one of the most ardent WHITE supporters of Dr. King was NRA president Charleston Heston !!!
A number of years ago I chanced a glance at a photo showing some white celebrities "back stage" with Dr. King and I got curious. Who really stuck their neck out for civil rights. I mean who really laid it on the line. There were about 5 white celebrities with Dr. King before his I have a dream speech. Two that might surprise you were Marlin Brando and Heston. Heston risked his career to not just give civil right lip service as so many did, but to actually picket his own movies when they were shown in "whites only" theaters.

Glenn Beck was there also. He said he carpooled across the country with a car load of blacks..... and said they would get very funny looks when they stopped for gas

Amazing that King Shabazz, and NAACP ilkm can;t even acknowledge the efforts of MANY whites, including Brando and Heston, during the Civil Rights Era.
Those talking heads, would rather discuss, the greatness of Sen. Robert Byrd, and forget all about Rev. Wright. and Van Jones.
I noticed Sidney Poitier in the pic, amazing back than and now he is a honorable man, to have it deflated by those like Belefonte, Danny Glover, and Rev. Wright, etc,.....ruins it.
To each his own.

Oh my God, why didn't anyone tell me people who believe in the Constitution were supposed to be racist? I feel so bad about disappointing a tyrant having Brady. Although this comment may be in bad taste, ask yourself to review a potential 1960's lynching with an armed black person... Probably would have made alot of racist murderers look for trouble else where.

Just for sport I'll throw this in. Heston marched in support of the Black Panthers on 2A grounds. Brando supported AIM (The American Indian Movement).
FQ13 Who truly loves it when folks don't fit in neat little boxes and piss off both sides because of it.

Huey Newton's original "Black Panther Party" advocated that every black man own a shot gun for self defense.
It was a major contributor to the GCA - 68's banning of fire arms for felons, many of the BPP leadership had justly or not, served prison terms.
I remember when Marlon Brando sent that Indian girl to decline his Oscar, I think it was for the "Godfather".
