The article is wrong on one point, Toyota is not doing well with the Prius, they lose money on very one of them.

That's because it's the newest model from Obamamotors. He'll ruin GM AGAIN by forcing them to pin their whole business on that POS and then, mark my words, we'll have to bail them out again.

I read a report a couple of years ago that the total cost of ownership for a Prius at 100k miles - it's lifespan - was 3 times that for a Hummer H3, which has a lifespan of 300k miles.

Most of the Prius' production cost is batteries, which start in a hell-hole in northern Ontario - an area so devastated by the mining that NASA uses it to represent alien planet surfaces. At the time, the mined material went to Germany for refining, then to Japan for manufacture into batteries, then into the cars and shipped to the US for sale.

That was a prius vs the bigger H2, not the little H3!!!  IIRC, it was also a smaller carbon footprint (making batteries is NASTY).

Don't kid yourself, the government still owns GM.  GM paid off their government loan with another government loan.
