Because the ordinary citizen who SHOULD be running for office doesn't have enough money! I would like to see gov't funded elections. level the field. Running for office? Here's x dollars to spend on it. Not allowed to spend any more than that!

He is a symptom of what is wrong with Washington. Our government is comprised of a gaggle of idiots who think they can do any damn thing they please, and there's nothing the peons (we the people) can do about it.

That is one good reason along with the fact that the intelligent people with common sense have enough of both to not want to get mixed up in the madness known as politics. That is one reason we rarely have qualified people in office.
Many people no longer see representation as a noble duty like the founding fathers did. They see it more as an opportunity for either power or furthering a personal agenda (or both) instead of service to their country. The decent people we need to step up don't really want to get involved with the hooligans in DC. And, when a good person does stand tall, they get overwhelmed and knocked down by the massive political machine and end up being ineffective.
As to the video, we've seen this dope before. Someone else said it on here before, "....after 18 re-elections over 37 years, the people should have already gotten rid of this clown."

You are correct, Peg.
Anyone who wants power and what it can bring so much to willingly go through the hell of politics to get elected should be disqualified from holding office.

It's not a question of " how can I serve my community".
It has become simply a way for them to stroke their ego. >:(

I was going to post the obligatory picture of Obummer looking down his nose but I decided that we've all already seen way too much of him anyway. :P

What really burns me is the way he mocks her at the end. He can't intelligently debate her, so he resorts to making fun of her. What an arrogant pr*ck!

That is the most common tool they use. Whether it is that prick Robert Gibbs or Jon Stewart or the clowns at MSNBC.

Ichiban is right, but the average voter is to darn stupid to see it.
