Well, that's nice. Of course he is a trained professional and in Illinois only trained professionals are allowed to carry concealed. After all, we're just careless, hapless civilians and we might do something stupid with a gun, like, oh, I don't know, leave it on the roof of the car and drive off after forgetting about it?

It's probably already on its way to the streets of the people's republik of chikago

If I were a chief of police somewhere I don't think I'd broadcast that we have a lost firearm

There have been several similar cases over the years, including two that I know of by chiefs of police, one of them from my alma mater PD.  Most officer guns get left in restrooms stalls.

Maybe 5-6 years ago I found a black canvas alongside the road, along with other stuff, had a badge, ID, and gun.  I called the officer and he had a uniformed patrol officer pick it up, never so much as a thank you.

Wow what a nightmare.

What kind of cop carries a gun without one in the chamber? Oh ya, I guess the kind that puts his gun on top of car.

I hope they find it... But i think its gone.

If its local news to you, please keep us posted.
