Title: This one's for Jaybet!
Post by: fightingquaker13 on August 11, 2010, 03:44:33 AM
I got to digging in the Asylum Street Spankers archive. Always a dangerous thing. ;) Anyway, I thought Jay, you ain't posted your stuff. Here's the minimum bar (though the boy's done his homework). Here's the challenge. I have no doubt you can beat it. ;D

I think I really would like to see them someday, even if I had to go to a bar to do it

That's a great tune! can't compete with that. I'm not sure how you would compete with that because it's clever and funny.

So far we only have one video, which isn't OUR video...we gave permission for a film camp to use "Devil Keep Chewin'" and some kids made a video based on the song. It's cute, but not a real video. I'll poke around and see if I can find the link.

I'll do them one better. Once I'm on my feet again I'll come down where you're at, find me a half assed bass player and drummer, and I'll bash it out in your living room. I hope you have a nice relationship with your neighbors.

Got the house, space, wattage, and power, to give you one hell of a house to jam in, jay.... My neighbors, would pay to get in, and love it. When those Winters, wear on ya enough,,, come south. Between me, Haz, and Crusader, you'll go home with more money than you started with....

Unless you have a beer tab like Jake & Elwood,

I'm not a fast bass player, nor am I a slow bass player, so I guess I must be a half-fast bass player!  ;D

I'd play with the likes of you any day, Jay!

Good deal Jaybet! I say we do it at Haz's house, as the neighbors are used to it and the cops don't even bother responding anymore. ;D

You never know....I might just afflict myself on ya sometime. Bye the way...all these pictures of the Blues Brothers reminded me. We did a blues festival around here and I met Alan Rubin...one of the horn players from the band. Nice guy.
I can still hear Belushi on Briefcase Full of Blues..."Alan Rubin-  ALAN RUBIN!!!"
He and Bones Malone are doing a Blues Brothers tribute show. I hear the front men look just like the real guys.

Here at Universal Studios Orlando they do a Blues Brothers show in the back lot.  They have several different 'teams' that do it but there is one team that just nails them.  Look alike, sound alike and there is also a lady that does Aretha who is dead on in looks and voice.

Honestly, I think John Goodman has a better voice than Belushi, but "Blues Brothers" was the only time I saw him and enjoyed it, I did not like him on SNL.

That "Blues Bros" Minnie the Moocher is actually Cab Calloway (yes I know it is from the movie).

Oh c'mon, his Linda Tripp was classic. Harsh, but classic. ;D

FQ, You may be thinking of some one else, Maybe John Goodman ? I think Belushi died before all that.
His Brother Jim was good in Salvador, and I've heard he was great in that one where he was a teacher.

Minnie the Moocher, is more "big band", that and Opera, I don't care for, Sweet Home Chicago is more like what I prefer.

Quoth Tom:

I worded that badly, the way I meant it was

Honestly, I think John Goodman has a better voice than Belushi, but "Blues Brothers" was the only time I saw him Belushi and enjoyed it, I did not like him Belushi  on SNL.

Further, I quit watching SNL when I enlisted in 77, so I have no clue who did impersonated Linda Tripp, but I think Belushi had died by then .

No snark is understood  ;D
