Hunting / fishing trips, day packing, camping, playing your own version of "The Colony", or just a good o'll day out fight'n the zombies.
I've been looking into small to mid-size packs (smaller than Alice), you fella's have any experience with one you can't live without or thoughts & opinions on these?

A "Man-purse", but seems practical. Provides very quick access to CCW, extra shells / magazines, etc.

Heeee's Baaaaack. ;D
Seriously, interesting packs. The problem with them for every day use, (they would both serve perfectly for the crap I carry, plus stuff I'm picking up in the course of a day ) is that most of the stores around here require men to check book bags etc. at the service desk, I will not do that as I don't trust others with my stuff, certainly not my CC pistol.
And No, they do not require women to check large purses.

I keep a Voodoo Tactical Level III Pack "BOB", smaller than a lot of Molle & Alice style packs, variety of uses also. Around $59 and up.

Here's my specific bag, and it's about what I paid for it last year.

I believe Ksail, had a great brand of pack, but I can;t remember what make it was... Maybe another member does. Or a trip to the Bug Out Bag Post in the archives.
Good to see you posting BM, it's been a while.

They make you check your bag before going in stores!?! That's insane! Makes me ill to hear that kind of thing is happening in our country. Iraq, Afganistan, Stalin controlled Soviet Union? Yeah, I can see it. But HERE!?! Luckily treating your customers like criminals or terrorists hasn't yet spread to this area... Sickening to hear about. :(
That's a heck of a nice pack for a heck of a nice price twyaght. Looking for something a little smaller for the listed uses, and maybe even day to day carry like Tom mentions. Also considering it as an option for CCW with a few spare mag.'s.
Looking at the site you posted, VooDoo has a pretty nice looking setup. Less "purse-like" than a lot I've seen. ;)

I'm not "back". ;) Merely passing through. ;D

It's supposed to stop shop lifters. ::)

Been doing that in college towns since before I was in college.

FWIW, my wife uses a Maxpedition fatboy as a purse. I made sure she didn't know the name.

If its just just as a daypack, I like a TNF, actually our store brand clone from Hudson Trail Outfitters. Its a good sized, but not silly big, two zip, one compartment bag (maybe 2000 CIs?). Its got a hip belt, compression straps and a foam type back stiffener (a real plus), but it still folds small. Sling it over one shoulder and look like a student, or you're good for a day in the bush or as a carry on. I've had that thing for twenty years and even used it for two summers as a courier. Retailed for about sixty bucks (so figure a hundred) and it was made in a North Face plant. If I had to buy new, I'd look at TNF first.

I've been using a 5.11 Rush 24. For normal use I'd rather have the Rush 12 but they are just making it in black which really isn't great if I'm out on the trails. I'm just glad cargo pants are so popular right now anything I can't get on my belt I can shove in my pockets. http://www.511tactical.com/browse/Home/All-Products/Pants/TDU-Pants/TDU-Pants-Ripstop/D/30100/P/1:100:50000:50100:50102/I/74003 These have a back-up holster system you can order from them for mags ect

Assault packs are nice Ranger. (I'm talking moutaineering assault, not tactical). I've got a Patagonia Rock Lobster that is about 3000 CIs. Very narrow, wont hang up in the bushes, commpression straps, lots of attachment points and light weight. Its good for three days if you pack small and carries about forty pounds comfortably and with good balance so you don't feel like a turtle. It is my go to over night or even get out of dodge bag. I prefer the Gregory 5000 CI for extended camping trips (voluntary or other wise). But if I've got to grab it and still move easily? Its hard to beat the climbing packs.

The one thing for ME that is essential in bag or like that Gearslinger is having MOLLE straps on the shoulder strap so as to mount cellphone and/or radio closer to my ears in case I've got my IPOD on. The next trip I take I'm taking a set of radios because my buddies had a hard time keeping up on the Mickelson Trail and the Maah Daah Hey Trail is A LOT more remote.

Oh, NICE! After I've spent days trying to convince myself. "I wouldn't look gay carrying that..." LOL!
I gotta look up all these other bags you guys mention for sure though. Definately sticking to the backpack idea NOW... ;D

SWEET! Even as the little "fanny pack" it does a great job disguising the pistol. I don't think the average pedestrian would identify it anyway.
I'm really not wanting to meet a U.S. cop carrying an MP5 though! Their general intelligence, skill, training, & professionalism level with that kind of weapon make a freaky scary mix! LOTS of UK cops carry such... Whole different story.

It is a pretty sweet pack, just wish it was more square like a messenger bag--or someone starts making a triangular shaped laptop.
I may buy the fanny pack and rig it as the shoulder strap on a regular messenger bag as an EDC/BOB/GO bag.

Sorry FQ, but no matter how I dress or what I sling over my shoulder, an old fart like me is NOT gonna look like a student. Looking AT students, on the other hand....... ;D
