Title: Rest In Peace Deputy Christopher L. Dewey
Post by: MikeBjerum on August 18, 2010, 08:27:56 PM
He was never a member here, and he wasn't connected here as far as I know, so I am posting in the Cafe out of respect for our members.

County Sheriff deputy near here, across the Red River in NW MN. His shooting by a couple of coked up wankers in a trailer, his rehab, even the medical screwup that ultimately led to his demise, and today his funeral, have all been front-page or 1st section news for the past 18 months.

RIP Deputy, and may God bring your family some peace after all this time.

Christopher L Dewey, RIP, and to your family my condolences that may seem lame right now.

No, it doesn't seem lame. Christopher Hitchens, famous for his atheism, but otherwise a smart guy (he makes Tom look like a muslim cheerleader), is dying of cancer. Apparently there are prayer groups organized for him. He said he draws strength from them. Its not God he said, just knowing that there are people that give a damn. So no, I don't think condolences and prayers (which I believe in) are ever lame. Just my .02

Benny -

You are in the midst of a certain level of what this family is going through, and it is something I remind everyone in those situations:

Today you breath a sigh of relief, and in six months you will praise the fact he is resting with his Lord, but today we miss his physical body - no matter how much we wouldn't wish them back.

Rest in peace, brother.  Your watch is ended.  Well done.
