Title: Deal or not....
Post by: Timothy on August 19, 2010, 08:01:39 PM
Just picked up a NIB Blackhawk Check Six, leather, small of the back holster for my 1911 and three Wilson ETM mags for 60 bucks and a box of 9mm....total

I'd say, I'm a winner....the mags go for 36-38 bucks a piece...

Timothy, Good deal, BUT...I wouldn't wear any pistol in the small of my back, if you should fall on your back that's a lot of steel to get jammed into your spine, nothing good can come of that.

Only on occasion, and it can't do much more damage to the the back.  It's already been broken.

I don't mind carrying that way when I'm walking quite a bit.  That's how I used to carry my 92SB Beretta years ago.

All joking aside here. I really wouldn't do it unless there were no ther choice tactically. If you can off set by a few degrees, say 6:30 or 6:45? Maybe. I've been dropped hard on my ass twice in the last few years. Once by getting shoved down hard by an idiot, and once by having a heat stroke on a ladder while putting up hurricane shutters. I hurt my back both times, the ladder event hurt it very badly. I wouldn't want to have had a piece of steel under my spine either time. Just my .02, take it for what its worth.

I'm a conservative FQ, I may have a stronger spine!

Seriously, I can where it behind the hip as well.  It just orients the gun at an extreme cant.  They're really quite comfy for certain occasions.  Either way, I can peddle it for a break even price if I don't use it much.  The mags were the target in the deal, the holster was just gravy, they go for 60 bucks alone.
