"Beat Whitey Night" At Iowa State Fair
Cops probe whether attacks were racially motivated REALLY?
Iowa State Fair
AUGUST 24--Police are investigating whether a series of assaults at the Iowa State Fair were racially motivated since the attackers reportedly announced it was “Beat Whitey Night” during one attack.
According to a Des Moines Police Department report, a group of young black assailants pummeled a white fairgoer Friday night, an assault that cops believe may have racial overtones due to what was said by the attackers.
A report by Sgt. David Murillo noted that, “officers at the fairgrounds advise there was a group of 30-40 individuals roaming the fairgrounds openly calling it ‘Beat Whitey Night.’” The victim, 36-year-old Jammie Carroll, suffered “severe injuries to his eyes, cheekbones, and nose,” and was hospitalized at Mercy Medical Center with multiple facial contusions.
Cops are examining other reported incidents at the fairgrounds since groups of black juveniles appeared to be singling out white victims. During one of these confrontations Sunday evening, two police officers were injured trying to break up a brawl (which resulted in five arrests).
A second police report notes that the Sunday incident again involved “a large fight with black male and female juveniles assaulting white citizens."

Are you kidding me? Juveniles or not, in a pack of 30-40, like dogs, I would fear for my life, and defend myself.
Carry at least two mags, or reloads folks. Knife, OTC spray, something.
Where's the apology from Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson????

Obama and crew say only whites can be racist. Pure BS :'( :-[

Haz asked me about this earlier today. He questioned why Iowa folks don't carry. Since alcohol is served on the state fairgrounds, concealed carry permit holders are prohibited from carrying there.
Hopefully we can get that rectified soon.
-
That is the nice thing about Minnesota. We can carry where they serve alcohol. We can even drink, but it is one of those things a smart person doesn't do.
We're heading to the Minnesota State Fair on Labor Day weekend. I will be carrying something or two that day! Just like any place in the Twin Cities there are places you don't want to be defenseless. Don't attack the old fat man ... >:(

If the situation had been reversed it would have been "live at five" on every TV station in america. The trouble is that journalists and viewers are lazy. We get a script in our heads. When a news story fits the script (plug tab A into slot B) it gets aired. When you have to rethink your asumptions, explain and contextualize it, particularly when it might invoke criticism? It doesn't get aired. There are two kinds of people out there. Those who say unpopular things because they believe them and provide a reason why, and those who either shy away from doinig so or shout down those who do. Sadly, when it comes to the media, we reward the latter.

In "I Sniper" Stephan Hunter has a very good piece on "The Narrative" in media.

Haven't read or heard of it. I'll give it a look. I guess my point is that it isn't so much a matter of deliberate ideological bias on the part of reporters as it is "bureaucratic default mode" that filters stories. How many heart warming stories about gay adoptive parents raising a special needs child do we see? How often does a "Home owner shoots intruder" story makes the headlines? Local hunters group funds wilderness preserve? How about, "Local Boy Scout makes Eagle for helping homeless drug addicts", or "Lesbian couple goes to prom" stories. God forbid the following, "Local Church mounts anti-war protest" or "Christian career women help Afghan women". How many of these hit the news? If it doesn't fit the script, and reguires context, it doesn't air.

I thought of Hunter's I Sniper as I read your comments also. It is the latest of Hunter's "Adventure" series featuring Bob Lee Swager/Earl Swager.
I don't think we need to take a poll to decide which of the "two types of people" you describe in your comment that you are. :D :D

Why does the PD "downplay" black on white "issues"?
While The MSM, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and the ACLU EXPLOIT the opposite?
The Iowa PD, perhaps doesn't want to "heighten the racial tension" because their afraid of repercussions?
They better get a grip.
-
Racial tension?
Iowa is so lily white that if you blended all the colors in the state it would still be lily white.
Hell, I had to put my sunglasses on when tt showed me his tan in the glow of a night light ;)

It is not usually the police it is the politicans (council members) that want to keep things under raps. Just had some knife my department in the back.

Funny, that. I carry 40 rounds on me for duty and concealed. It would have been "30-40 people approaching Fatman saying it was 'beat whitey night' scattered rapidly as a fair number of them became bullet sponges."
The state of this country is reflected in the inequity of both outrage and action whenever incidents like this occur. it's not racial, it's inhuman no matter what the color of the attacker or the victim is. No excuses.

Who are you and what did you do with the real FQ. If there are 40 customers for the morge and one witness to the trial, just saying.

Not sure about you meant by the second part of your post, but as to the first? I'm a libertarian. Rights attach to individuals, not groups.

There was a man who ran a junkyard locally. One night 5 trespassers, all teenage boys, one who worked for him, entered his property and he shot all of them, killing four.
He went to trail and was acquitted on the four killings as justifiable homicide.
He was convicted in the fifth trial where the teenager appeared in a suit and he was sentenced to several years in prison.
While he was in prison at the Lebanon facility in Ohio, there was a riot and he was killed.
I believe his name as John Coin and he was best know locally for driving a Sherman Tank around downtown Cincinnati with banners that called Sheriff Simon Leis a NAZI and the Hamilton County Sheriff Office the Gestapo.
