Title: Here's your daily dose of the absurd
Post by: SwoopSJ on August 31, 2010, 10:09:54 PM
IRVINE, Calif. – Forget "Fore!" "Fire!" was the cry of the day for a golfer whose off-target swing sparked a 12-acre blaze in Southern California. The golfer at the Shady Canyon Golf Course in Irvine landed a shot in the rough Saturday.
On his next swing, his club snagged a rock, causing a spark that lit the rough ablaze and eventually attracted 150 firefighters to the scene.
Fire officials say the fire burned through the rough, into vegetation next to the course and over two dry, brushy hillsides.
No charges were filed against the golfer, whose name was withheld.

I'll wager the golfer was relieved that he was neither charged nor publicly exposed.  I'm not sure, however, if he would be more embarrassed by starting the fire or his apparent lack of skill.  I mean, I've seen some atrocious golf swings in my time, but never one so bad it was almost criminal!  ::)

They ought to ban those things! Graphite and steel in the hands of angry middle aged white guys? What legitimate sporting purpose do they serve anyway? Haven't we gotten over this atavistic urge to hit things? And if you must, wouldn't it be more sporting to simply throw the ball?
FQ13 who is ROFL and wondering how many strokes a fire costs you? Paging Mr. Woods.... ;D

You think this is how Caveman discovered how to make fire?

The only question would be which "club" he was using.   A Mashie maybe?  Or a Pitching Niblick?   Granite head, laminated bamboo shaft, of course.
