U.S. immigration officials said Wednesday they will consider San Francisco's request to opt out of the controversial Secure Communities program that makes it easier for federal authorities to track down and deport undocumented immigrants.

Until now, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, known as ICE, has rebuffed San Francisco's contention that participation in the program is voluntary. San Francisco Sheriff Michael Hennessey, a vocal opponent of the program, has said repeatedly that as head of the city's jail system he does not want to participate.

Sanctuary cities , and the States that permit them, are in contempt of both the Constitution and Congress.
They are Abetting a federal crime.

Maybe they are considering whether to just say no or to jail those asking for treason?

Since when does something like The Constitution make any difference to the current occupant and his administration?

Check your calender, its an even numbered year. I would expect the request to be "considered" until mid-November.
FQ13 who might be a bit cynical

San Fransico's request, and ICE's reaction, is just another indicator of how far down the "Trail to Irrelevancey" the US has gone.

Mark Stein, filling in for Rush Limbaugh today, had an interesting rant about the 911 memorial/building at Ground Zero. It was his contention that the American people were responsible for the lack of construction at Ground Zero. Our acceptence of all the bureacratic and PC bullshit that has stopped ANY reconstruction or memorial at Ground Zero has lead to the potential constuction of a mosque at ground zero. The Islamist aren't backing down, and it looks like we're just going to accept it. Like an old dog, America will growl, as we back down and slink away. He said the open pit at Gruond Zero WAS the memorial that the American people deserved. And after thinking about what he said, I'm afraid I have to agree.

wonder if a state can opt out of Emancipation Proclamation?

That only applied to the Confederate States of America.
