Title: AR carbine colors.......furniturewise
Post by: Bic on September 10, 2010, 08:53:10 PM
I didn't want to hijack the recent thread on AR color as my request is of a different nature.

Does anyone have, or have pictures of, an M4gery type rifle with ALL the furniture of differing colors?, y'know - Dark Earth stock, OD grip, Desert Tan fore-end, Foliage mag. for example. I fully intend to dress one of mine like that and without the goods in hand, can't decide what to have where!

I've never seen mixed colors of grips, etc. It sounds interesting.

I had one setup for a while with an OD stock, foliage MIAD with OD backstrap and trigger guard front strap. I had OD and Foliage XTM rail panels in a sort of checkerboard setup. I liked the look. The closest I have to that now is all foliage with a mix of FDE/OD/Foliage XTM panels.

I believe Brownells has a build an AR feature that may help.

Expanding the "evil Black rifle" to include a variety and mosaic of other colors?

Sounds promising... 8)

I guess the question here is why? What do you want to accomplish?
These aren't rhetorical or hidebound questions either. I'm not saying ARs should be black, or SxS shotguns should be wood and blue steel. You want an electric blue splash anodized AR taken straight from the pages of a paintball mag? A flame engraved Parker? Its your gun and your money, and it might even look cool. The only way a gun "should" look is the way the guy paying for it wants it to look.  That said, you can go for anything from mix and match add ons to Remington cammo (too generic for me) to an M'lette purple people eater. I think that unless your point is to showcase various patterns available at Brownells you should either leave it alone or figure out what color scheme floats your boat. Then buy all metal parts (stock obviously excluded) and consult your local custom motorcycle/automotive custom shop and get 'er done your way. ;D
Good luck

Scroll down for the AR stuff.

This help?  You really want each piece to be a different color?

Sorry, I think the confusion about the color deal is my fault.  I've gotten into the habit of referring to my AR's as coyote rifles because my mom kinda freaked the first time she saw it because it looks like something it's not.  After I told her it was my coyote rifle explained it was the same caliber I use for coyotes it lessoned her aprehention. This one is now all foliage green after I finally got around to replacing the buttstock
