hmmmm
is this sort of stuff done much ???

I guess when a gun is pulled on you any strategy (including doing nothing) is better than panic. I would like to see this done with a cap gun to see if a shot could be taken by the agressor when someone is trying to disaram them. Hate to say it, and I am not an expert, but something tells me that pulling a trigger a 1/4 inch at point blank range can happen pretty darn quickly. Wouldn't the higher percentage play be to wait for a better time than when a gun is pushed up against you? I guess you need to determine if a low percentage play is better than doing nothing if death is imminent. Again, I am not an expert.

Not sure :-\
Kinda falls under the grain of salt rule, but I need a whole box while I think about it.
Beyond that, RP's rules keep me from posting what I really think.

I think we are thinking the same thing though :o

Had a video of some of these techniques and others, mostly a gun held on you at close range.
They did a series of "gun grabs" using protective clothing and rubber bullets.
There major finding about technique is that you MUST grab or slap the gun and not the hand or wrist or the gun will still be able to be pointed at you and a slap to the wrist or hand could actually pivot the gun to your body.
They also found that the gun will be fired most of the time.
Their technique had you trapping the gun with both hands open, like clapping, to point it away from you and then rotating your hands sideways to the outside of the shooters body to break his grip and then grasping the gun to take possession.
I don't think I have the video any longer, but I'll see if I can dig up any reference to it.

Probably works, if you are darn quick about it.

I think that about 95% of the people that try this will be killed. But, hey, if you get a chance to try it, let us know how it works for you.

You mean besides shit my pants!?

I like the "Fainting Goat" technique myself. ;)

Hey, I was gonna say that....but I will defer, due to age and pecking order, and just say +1. :D
In all seriousness, remember the video was partly choreographed because both knew what was going to happen. It would all depend on the situation as to whether I tried to take the gun. If I truly felt that the end conclusion was going to be my death, regardless of my actions, then I would probably resort to a takeaway attempt....... and those in the video, if practiced repetitiously, looked like they had some merit if there was no other solution available.
A couple were pretty straightforward, but a couple also looked like they would most probably get you killed rather quickly.
YMMV

Whatever you do, do it first, do it fast, and do it foul. ;D
In other words if you decide to kick them don't settle for kicking his knee cap off, kick his nads around his ears, when he falls down kick him some more.
It will be easier, you won't have to lift your leg so high.

If nothing else, and if you can, BE FAST & PRACTICE, OR have that "situational awareness" mindset, and PRACTICE MORE
Like this dude.
OR PRACTICE MORE
SHOOT FIRST!

Ok...I've watched the videos and have done some prior research and examined several techniques and I have come to a conclusion about you should do in this situation.
NEVER get within arms reach of someone when you have the drop on them.
