Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will endorse former rival John McCain, officials have said.
Mr Romney will release his 288 delegates and urge them to back Mr McCain.
The former Massachusetts governor dropped out of the race last week. It became apparent that toppling McCain would be near impossible.

Romney wants another shot at the prez job. He's betting McCain loses this year and he can run in 2012. This was the "statesman" thing to do.

Something I find interesting is the position in the media where they're talking about the fact that he's a Mormon. They're saying that contributed substantially to the failure of his campaign, and I just don't see that. His campaign failed because he was a self-promoting stuffed shirt who said whatever he thought people wanted to hear, and everybody could see through that. PLUS he didn't handle the whole "Mormon" controversy very well anyway. He could have put that on the back burner with some solid policy, but he didn't have any.
He's not presidential material and, in this case, the system worked perfectly.
-
Only problem is NONE of them are Presidential material, where are the Roosevelts (Teddy NOT Franklin) Lincolns Jeffersons and Washingtons. You know, people with principles
-
I got this from a very political minded friend of mine.. He is a staunch Ron Raul supporter..
Interesting...

The problem w/ Ron Paul is that the Media hates him because he is a threat. But there in lies the problem. No Media>No Chance. Oh yeah theres that whole "HIV ers on the island" thing. I love his stand on guns and a lot of other views but everyone with any pull is against him for the lessing of government. Man i am torn. Vote against the Dems. or waste it on the man I want. :-\ The more i think bout it the more bummed I get. :(

No one can win if people say "I agree with a lot of his views but the enemy (socialist biased media) hates him so I'm going to vote for a scum bag so I'm not on the losing side" THIS AIN'T A F*&#ing CARD GAME, If you're on the losing side you still have your self respect, what do you have if you vote for the ENEMY OF YOUR RIGHTS.
In case you need help figuring it out, You place your bets with a BOOKIE, you place your vote based on your BELIEFS.

Agreed, tomboggan - 100%.
What ever happened to all of us backing a single candidate such as a write-in? We seem to be doing what we do best - be self-reliant, which in this case will get us put down. So we going with one name and which name might that be? Just asking..... 8)

So am I to vote for my belief or my beliefs? There is one thought which states " THIS AIN'T A F*ing CARD GAME, If you're on the losing side you still have your self respect, what do you have if you vote for the ENEMY OF YOUR RIGHTS.
OR
am i to vote for the more likely to defeat the "Greater Enemy" to my beliefs? As in" THIS AIN'T A F*ing CARD GAME,
SO I USE MY VOTE AGAINST WHOM IS THE BIGGER ENEMY OF YOUR RIGHTS
.
card games never made me lose sleep tombogan03884 and it be a sucker bet against me to say to me "this election hasn't". Just saying man think it over. Or better yet write in Elvis and sleep well. Man i am not at that point where that sounds easier/better than finding a solution due to the fact that "Friendlys" are not that helpful and the "Enemy"is over HELPFUL!
Whats the Kid to do MAN! Tis the question? ???
But like so many others say "worry 'bout it then" is hard to do Brothers and Sisters.............looks to be another restless night. :(

Too right.
I don't mean to sound flippant, (do people still use that word ? it's the only one I could think of.) But I'm going to write in Ron Paul and stock up on ammo.
People will tell you that third parties never win, that's not true , BUT, the last one who did was Lincoln. The main reason for this is the media, they only cover the 2 major parties and pooh - pooh every one else. Do you remember Ross Perot ? He was the reform candidate in , I think, '84. He had a whole series of 1 hour shows using charts and graphs and plain English to explain his policies. He BOUGHT that time, none of the networks would give him time equal to what the major parties were getting JUST in "news reports", so he used his own money and bought the time in the slots he wanted. Paid through the nose for it too. He was sunk by 3 things, one, he's a little guy with BIG ears and a fast talker who seems born to be the butt of jokes, 2) not enough people UNDERSTOOD what he was telling them because the "average" voter is dumber than a stump,(other wise people would not be impressed with Obama, he doesn't actually SAY anything, but he says it well) the 3rd thing was his unfortunate choice of Adm. Stockwell as his VP, The Adm. was a brave and honorable man past his prime, over his head, and came across as "befuddled",at best. The point is, that even with all those things going against him he still managed to scare the CRAP out of the major parties. Ron Paul, is awesome on the gun issue, every gun owner in the country can get behind him on that, He's solid on the illegal immigration situation, he's against one world NAFTA type globalization of America, He realizes that what made America great was that her people are INDEPENDENT, He has solid, well planned ideas for Social security, health care, and the economy. (these are not subjects I understand so I did not examine his positions in depth) and he is anti abortion. Given all these factors pretty much every one from moderately to extremely Conservative can vote for him without having to hold their nose. But, he also has wide support on college campuses among young voters. With a base like that, and the growing wave of dissatisfaction with McCain, a well directed aggressive INTERNET campaign could MAYBE turn the election into a real horse race, especially when you consider that Nader can only hurt Dem's, probably Obama more than Clinton.
Something else to consider, gun owners may be better off with Clinton or Obama. Any move that either of them make will draw resistance from republicans along party lines in the legislative branches, anti gun initiatives will draw fire from religious and civic leaders as well as us gun owners. But if McCain is supporting the same legislation the Dem's will support it en mass as will many republican politicians who only think with their party affiliation, religious and civic leaders also would be more hesitant to go against 2/3 of the legislature, which by the way is nearly enough to CHANGE the Constitution, (4/5). In other words, a Clinton or Obama presidency, at Worst can hurt the 2d Amendment. A McCain presidency could kill it.
Now, Why more ammo ? Because these are perilous times the economy is already shaky because of the mortgage mess, by next winter gas will be over $4 a gallon, heating oil will rise at a similar rate, EVERYTHING uses petroleum in processing in one way or another, add to that the costs of transporting from source to market, and you can expect painful price increases in the cost of everything from food to toilet paper. People will be losing jobs because they cannot afford to commute, businesses will fail because they can't raise prices enough to absorb increased costs, people will be freezing and starving because they can't afford fuel for heat and cooking. if not this coming winter then the one after. When people have nothing to lose they rebel, it gives them some thing to do till they starve, and all that running around burning govt. buildings keeps them warm. Then we will need our guns to survive.
But besides that, I only own my computer, my clothes, and a couple of guns. TO HELL WITH THEIR LAWS I WILL DIE, BUT I WILL NOT GIVE THEM UP. and I will not die alone.
And you can call me Tom, it saves all that extra typing :)

you got it Tom, and good points to the rest good points. I do not agree with them all(due to being undecided :-\ and probably confused ??? ) but i see the point. Little to no Hope!?!? :o Right! But this is not how I get a more restful night! But praying and exercising may help my mood. "Hawk-tue-eeee" on the subject until then.
We will have to see what MB has to say in either upcoming podcasts or posts. It may be less harsh then the "RugerSR9" issue.
