Gotta say that was a hell of a post. I looked at the alphabet soup sounding title and was wondering why it wasn't offering to make my unit bigger and my ass smaller as it sounded like spam. A very thoughtful post.

Very interesting numbers.  Puts a lot in perspective. 

They didn't mean very much to me because I've never been looking at immigration as what the US can do for other countries, but what we can do for the US. 

I've not felt it is the "job" or duty of the US government to help other countries.  If citizens want to donate to charities that aid other countries, maybe the government can help provide information on where that donation is being spent, but basically leave it to voluntary contributions.

I guess there are countries that might be "vital to the national defense" and could qualify for aid in that manner, but we've opened that can of worms and that gets out of control quickly.
