Some of you think I'm extreme, insulting, or arrogant in my opinion of voters. ::)

The New Mexico man who earlier this year mistakenly defecated in a stranger’s car--believing it was his girlfriend’s vehicle--has cut a plea deal sparing him jail time.
“This is your car? I thought this was Desiree’s car,” Purifoy answered before fleeing. Lovelace would later discover feces on a rear floorboard,

Ahhhh, but the prestige of being known as the "Notorious New Mexico Car Pooper".

Looks like the old 'Sh!t-N-Split' routine went horribly wrong.
I know a guy who did that to an ex's mailbox once. Took the thing off the post in the middle of the night, crapped in it, and then put it back on the post.

Now I wonder if that is a Federal Offense? I've heard that tampering with a private mail box that is used to receive US Mail is a felony...probably if the intent is to intercept or destroy US Mail....but I wonder if filling it with a pile could be considered damaging to mail?
UPDATE: I found this
How serious is it to tamper with someone's personal mailbox (from their house)?
Is it a federal offense when someone tries to epoxy the mailbox shut?

Additional Details
Mailboxes are considered federal property, and federal law (Title 18, United States Code, Section 1705), makes it a crime to vandalize them (or to injure, deface or destroy any mail deposited in them). Violators can be fined up to $250,000, or imprisoned for up to three years, for each act of vandalism.

Dang!!...I've had over a million dollars worth committed against mine in the last few years!!! After replacing several damaged boxes, I finally got one of those plastic ones for less than $10 at wally world and the beer bottles seem to bounce off. Hasn't been tagged with a melon yet though. Melons will kill a mailbox.
I wonder if the guy I mentioned earlier could argue that he was the original purchaser? ;D
I also know one guy who killed his own box with a bush-hog mower while mowing. I've heard that once the box is installed on the right of way, it is considered federal property......so, could he be charged with destruction of his own mailbox, or does malicious intent have to be involved or intended? ;D ;D ;D

I think intent is required, or half the snow plow drivers in America would be Fugitives.

Along with farmers. ;D

Have not looked up the law, but I'd imagine there must be an intent clause or at least a provision for the owner to be custodian of the Fed Property or it would be impossible to replace a worn (say rusted out) or too small mail box.
And Peg...if you could manage a video of your mail box being vandalized with an ID of the guilty, like a license plate or good face detail, I'd say they would be in for a severe wake up call.

In all seriousness, we actually considered setting up several game cameras to see if we could catch a plate number or something (it got really bad a few years ago...almost to the point I was ready to sit out by the road on Saturday nights to try and get a pic). They had (thankfully) bad aim/timing and mostly missed. But when they connected (with everything from pumpkins to bits of cinder block) it was devastating to the box. Then it suddenly stopped and we heard a car load of teens had been caught. Don't know what punishment was meted out though.

You know, I just noticed that the topic of this thread actually hits the problem here on the head (pun intended).
Had Purifoy spent those few minutes in the can instead of the back seat of a car, the problem would have been eliminated...
