I thought you were going to say you were there, and we could all watch youtube for pictures of a topless gun babe in the front row showing off her Ruger tattoo  ;D

I want to know where Hank the third is. That guy had talent. He cut a great album, which went nowhere because it was old school, with a 'tude. Still, better than daddy. More like gramps if he were still with us. God knows old Hank would headbang with a fiddle for a backbeat if given the chance. ;D
FQ13 who thinks that if there were justice in this world, every so-called "country" station in the US would be playing him and a hundred more just like him. Instead? We get '80s soft rock with a cowboy hat. >:( The day Hank Williams grandson isn't on the radio? That's when I say that "country" radio isn't worth the name. To quote the man "If this ain't country, you can kiss my ass". Damn straight!

I say it loud and I say it proud... I agree with you, FQ. Modern country has simply replaced soft rock with waxed cowboy hats.  I was doing my acoustic thing last week when a guy came up (shoved by his wife) and asked if I knew any Kenny Chesney songs. I said , "Sorry I don't- thinking to myself "Chesney isn't a cowboy...he's a fag- he's all 'Broke back' and stuff". I continued..." ...But I do know some other country...how about David Allen Coe or George Strait, or Merle Haggard. They had no idea what I was talking about. And I'm not even a "country guy."
THAT'S what's wrong with America.

I told our daughter the reason she and all of her friends like 70's rock so much is because that is what popular modern country is copying.  Sad thing is that it took taking music 101 in college for me to finally pay attention to the basics and recognize the ties between one thing and the next.  The next thing I'm going to learn is that there really was a purpose behind Underwater Basket Weaving  :'(

"Don't  rock it if you can swing it". A quote by a Texas (should have been) great Dale Watson. If you ever saw the movie "The Comitments", you'll remember the old soul guy explaining "No, soul is in a box, its jazz that goes in spirals". The point is, country has a soul, a beat and a fiddle and pedal steal. Soft rock is just muzack, and yes I'm being a snob, ask me if I care. Its DIY music from the soul, like the blues. Dressing it up in "brokeback" fashion (to quote jaybet) is just wrong. Use it, expand on it, as you will, but don't give me warmed over "Eagles" and "Journey" remakes and call it country. There, you're just insulting me. Get off my obstacle Pyle!

FQ enjoy this. One of my faves that you won't hear often. Hiram Hank Williams, done by H jr, the story of Tee Tot.

Meant to put this in there, resonator guitars are like banjo's, they are either on the money or brain bending, JOKE, do you know why there are no Jewish Banjo players.

Wait

You have be a complete dick, to be a Banjo player.

Lord, Operator! That was special. I thank you for bringing that to my attention. The sad thing is, that its a rare track. If country radio still gave half a damn, it would be a classic. >:( Its the same thing that's wrong with the government. Too many "smart guys" who focus group things to the point that anything real doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell. What we get, musically or politically, is bland pablum aimed the lowest common denominator. Aim at either the base or the middle, being authentic and crossining party/musical lines? Don't be absurd! >:( That kind of thinking has got us into a huge mess, culturally and politically. I hope folks will wake up and realize it.
Anyway, thanks for the tune.
