$160! :o Call me an old fart, but, well, ITS A FREAKING FLASHLIGHT!!!!!!!
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. I've spent $6 to get a water proof diffuse beam LED by Dorcy that is great for boating and camp chores. I've got a gaggle of Mag Lights in various sizes, (from fit in your pocket, to probably illegal in Boston). I even sprung for a $60 Streamlite (I hate to admit it, but I will use the word "tactical") flashlight, at around 200 lumens. Still, $160? Is it just me, or does this seem absurd to anyone else?
FQ13 who can't quite fathom why you would spend that kind of money on something you could get for about $10-$50 at Gander Mountain, depending on whether you were going to use it as a backup weapon or not. :-\

expensive, but if their claims of unit life are true than you have a light for many, many years to come, without changing batteries, ever. 90 escond charge time so you don't wait around for it to charge when you need it again in a hurry. it would be useful to me if it wasn't LED as I use a light every day and go through  lot of batteries.just this trip i have cost the company nearly the cost of the light in battery consumption. yes, amount of use is key on getting a return on your investment with an item like this.
and it is cool.
well, gotta go. time to go back to work.

Gosh, Deepwater...  I hate to have to say this, but I think FQ is right on this one.  If you need a flashlight going all day long, why not get a decent Mag and a double handful of Ni Cads, then cycle the batteries through the charger(s).

Another problem with something that costs as much as your new light is the way you feel when you drop the sucker someplace you can't get to to retrieve it.  You get to drop 16 $10-Mag-lites to generate the same "sense of loss."  And if you drop that many in a single day...  well, you may need to re-think what you're doing with your life.  Or reduce your alcohol consumption.

COSTCO sells a pair of really neat, very high intensity little lights for about $30.  They run on AAAs and recharge-ables work fine.  Their power consumption is minimal for so much light, and they even come with a lanyard so you have a chance of getting it back when it falls from your inebriated fingers.

No wonder all our stuff from China costs so dang much...  You merchant marine types are making WAAAAY too much money (LOL)

By the way...  When you getting back?  Haz and I just bottled another batch of beverage that sombody has to help drink.

Perhaps it's me, but I've never had any luck with "rechargeable" anything. Unless you use them all the time rechargeable batteries, capacitors, etc. seem to go bad from sitting for long periods of time. A lot like these high dollar cordless power tools from companies like DeWalt, Ryobi, and the like. If your a contractor who makes a living with them you're good to go. But for a guy to spend $200.00 on a drill he'll wind up using 3 times a year for some little project, the batteries will go well before you wear them out. Rechargeable batteries work best, and last the longest when they are used on a regular basis, and deep cycled from a full charge to all but dead. Anything less and they're on borrowed time.

That light is really nice, and if I was a cop, or a pilot who flew a lot at night, I'd have one. But for as much as I use a flashlight I just can't justify it. I'm still trying to justify buying a Surefire 9P, and they are only $70.00 or so.   Bill T.

I have one of their flashlight like this one but it doesn't recharge..its the step under.. it takes batteries..
it is awesome and I love it.. . I got it when I took the class at Gunsite..
I wouldn't spend that kind of money though for a light  if I was buying it myself.. (  8))

That is the beauty of the capacitors--they don't die from lack of use like nicad.

Yeah it is stupid expensive, but if it were cheaper I would have one planted on the nightstand, by every door, and in every vehicle.

As it is today, it is really hard to beat the AA and AAA LED lights out there.  120 lumens for $10 :o  we are spoiled.

I read part opf the FAQs and it sounds pretty good. If you recharge it once a day it should last 135 years.

Yeah, but I'll only last another forty, and that's if I make some serious lifestyle changes. ;D I can hear it now: "I, Deepwater, having passed on to the Great Hereafter, do hereby bequeath to you, my son and heir, this flashlight. May it serve you well". ;D ;D ;D ;D
Sorry, I couldn't help it.

Ok, you asked for it, you old fart!!   ;D

Seriously, though, I agree with you.  It's cool, but I can't justify the extra $100 over what I spent for the light I carry.  Admittedly I'm not only an old fart, but a cheap old fart, to boot.  But to me it's much like the choice I made for the 1911 I carry every day.  It's a Para-USA that I bought new for $599.  Sure, I coulda paid well over $1,000 for a 1911 from a different manufacturer, but would it make a bigger hole in a BG?  If I ever (God forbid) had to use it to defend myself would the BG be anymore dead?

Now that I think of it, this is probably the same reason I drive an F-150 instead of a Lincoln MK-1.   ;D

This reminds me of Hussein hiring 147 year old Andy Griffith to sell his dog and flea pony show of a "health care program". "There's lots more gooood things comin', like FREE checkups and all sorts of goooood stuff!" How he ever got laid by Helen Crump I'll never know???   Bill T.

I found the light while looking to replace my streamlight. the streamlight is rechargeable and has lasted for over eight years of daily use and abuse. loved that light. disappeared out of my luggage as I flew to Korea. retatrds didn't realize it was rechargeable and left the charger. anyway, I paid 89.00 for it and am looking for another like it. this light I would not buy because it is LED, useless for what I need as it reflects too much light back from all the piping and cables etc. I never replaced the batteries on the Streamlight Stinger and still had the original spare bulb. must buy more......
also, I'm sure that this technology will become more widespread and drive the price down with competing manufacturers.
well, gotta get back to work.

Oh yeah, Crusader, will be back around the 20th-ish. see ya soon

Admittedly, I have a flashlight fetish, I have a large collection, from Streamlight, Insight technology, surefire and no name, I have done a lot of LED conversions on these lights, and have some pretty strong opinions, I recently put a Terralux conversion with a Cree LED in my rechargable streamlight stinger xp, it is awesome, used to charge the light once a week, now every other week, and the light is white and bright, I use it everyday at work, in my left pocket I carry a surefire, L1 lumimax, has a 10 lumen and 60 lumen capability, 10 lumens you can read something in your car, like a map, and not get night blindness, hit the button harder and you can see across the street, it was a xmas gift, and the first set of cr123 batteries lasted a yr. I don't use it everyday, but carry it everyday. When I hunt, I always carry 2 lights, 1 to track game, and if I did not find it in 45 minutes, the 2nd, gets me back to square 1. Nothing worse than 45 minutes getting deep in the woods, and your light go's dim. I will be the 1st to admit modern well made good rep lights are too high, but sometimes you want the best, I am 1 of those.

I have been saying for yrs, some company is going to produce the 1st high quality LED for the home, if we can figure out who it will be, invest heavily, it is coming.

Another xmas gift was a surefire Echo knife, 300.00 bucks, I will never carry it or use it, my cold steels and spyderco knives will do fine, the friend who gave the surefire stuff, gets the stuff free for evaluation for magazine articles, the same as Michael does on a lot of items. Too bad they only gave him 1 of the 300 lumen weapon lights. But I think his best hookup, is Black Hills ammo, whenever he does an evaluation or article on a fire arm, he just calls, and they send him 1k rounds of whatever, of course Black hills is great stuff, and he never fails to mention that fact.
