There was a time when being a Democrat, NOT a Progressive, was not an evil thing. More of a Blue Dog thing, not a
What do you think of Joe Manchin D-Gov. West Virginia. He's behind in the polls. but comes out with this.
Video at link.
Thoughts?

Ah, yes, the Barney Fife school of shooting - 1 bullet in the shirt pocket because in spite of the earnest face, he is just too damned dangerous to carry a loaded weapon! ;D

Probably true of any politician. There was that ag commisioner candidate from Alabama who talked a good game, and posed with his model 94. looked good, until you noticed his booger hook was on the bang switch the whole time. :o ::)

I don't care if the candidate sounds like George Wallace or Barry Goldwater. If he has a D after his name you are voting for Obummer.

even though the imagery gives the impression that, if elected, Joe Manchin will go to Washington and murder everyone with guns. Which is certainly a winning message for 2010! But rather gory, also.
WTF? Is this reporter on crack? I didn't get that imagery at all. But then again I don't have the mentality that everyone with a gun is a deranged lunatic either. ::)

Can't really argue with that part though.

If he was really as conservative as he claims, he wouldn't be a democrat.

I wouldn't say that. Look at Wyoming's Governor for the last 8 years. He's a Democrat, and one of the most conservative Governors in the U.S. It is possible to be a Dem, and not be an idiot, just as it is possible to be Repub, and still be an asshat.

Only if you don't need the campaign funds.
In fact, it is not possible to support the Democratic Party with out being an idiot because the party platform is based on stupid ideas that have failed miserably every where else they have been tried.
3 quick examples, Stimulus, National health care, more power to the unions.
Each of these along with gun control have been major components of the Dem platform for decades.
So again, No, you can't be a Dem with out being an idiot.

You need to give some credit to the scumbags that decided to be "not Dems"

Congress as a whole has lost any and all credibility with me at this point, and according to their approval numbers, most of the rest of the country as well. I don't believe that the letter behind your name means much anymore. None of them have any concern for the people that elected them. Once you arrive inside the beltway, it's all about fitting in with the crowd.
-
Is anybody else sick to death of hearing how each candidate or incumbent will "govern" once they're elected? As for me, I've been "governed" enough, I want somebody who's gonna "represent" me.
-
The biggest problem with our Constitution is that they overlooked the most basic fact of life.
If you want something done right, do it yourself.
You can not trust any other person to represent your best interest.

Due to travel I'm late to this ...
The question has been asked that if he is a conservative, why is he a Democrat?
It is easy to gloss over this, and say it is just a party and he has stuck with it. However, as a Democrat he is being funded and supported by liberal funding and effort. If he were really a conservative and really out to dump Cap and Trade, portions of O'Bama Care, or go against anything blue, the party would dump him like a hot potato! I don't trust anyone that claims conservative values while aligning himself with liberals!

I posted this on another thread, but the link to the DNC Party platform is relevant here.
Voting "for the person, not the Party" is absolutely stupid. No matter what they say they will obey the orders to get campaing funds unless they have their own money.
If you are stupid enough to vote for a Blue dog this is what you support.

For years, Democrats have attempted to work across the aisle to pass comprehensive legislation. We need to bring the 11 million undocumented immigrants out of the shadows
# Ensuring civil unions and equal federal rights for LGBT couples, as well as fully repealing the Defense of Marriage Act;
# Ending racial, ethnic, and religious profiling;
Starting with the passage of the Recovery Act, Democrats began a series of strategic investments in health care, energy, and education that are laying the groundwork to build a stronger economic foundation for the future.
For decades, Democrats have stood alongside labor unions in defense of fair pay and economic security. Union members have been a key part of the Democratic Party, organizing for elections and on issues such as health reform, minimum wage, retirement security, and greater accountability in the public and private sectors.
Go ahead and vote for a Dem.
