Title: Lever love...

Marlin 1895GBL came yesterday. It sits here with its cousins...Henry .22 LR, Chaparral 1873 Win in .45 Colt, Rossi 1892 Win in .45 Colt, Winchester 1894 (early '50s manufacture) in .30-30.
Took it out today to run a few rounds through it. The Trapdoor loads I have (405 gr LFN with IMR 3031 run about 1100 fps ) were mild. The hunting loads I have (405 gr LFN with IMR 4064...I think they run a little around 1750 fps) got your attention but were still very manageable.

Neither of your 45/70 loads are anything to sneeze at, 405 at 1100, maybe a rhino might not fall. Nice set, enjoy. ;) ;D ;D ;D

Nice stock on the Marlin. Love the 30-30. I've three myself. One of them always winds up in the woods with me when looking for whitetail.

There must be 50 ways to LOVE your LEVER.
Sorry, I just couldn't resist. :)
I have a Marlin 336 and absolutely love it. The old discussion about "If you could only grab one gun on a bug-out..." I'd take my lever gun over any of the high speed, low drag tactical guns in my safes.

Nice! How does the 1873 .45 Colt shoot? Bill T.

Great. Smooth, positive cycling. Accurate. Plus you get that "tink-chink" sound with the brass follower.

While lever's aren't my cup of tea, I can appreciate the fine looking collection that you have. Thanks for sharing.

I admit to drooling a bit over the 45-70s. I don't even know why. ;D Its kind of like my interest in a bfg revolver. I guess its a mid-life thing (which has NOTHING to do with Freud! Damnit!) ;D. Still a 45-70 or .454 Casull in a lever has a certain appeal, even though I can kill anything I have anybusiness shooting at with a 30-30. Its hard to not be interested in those. Fq13
